<Luke's POV>

I stood at the mirror in Danny's room, finishing up my hair when she barged in.

The thing you need to understand is that back home, I usually didn't spend this much time on my appearance. Yes, I probably spent about ten to fifteen minutes every day, but never more than twenty like here. And back home I wouldn't feel guilty about making other people late. Not like here. I tried to rush myself, knowing Haylee would be pissed at me for being late.

But really, it was for her. I had come to the conclusion that I really did have feelings for her and now I had to figure out how to deal with them.

I didn't mean to take so long, really. I just...guess I wanted to look good for her. That's all. I lost track of time, so one minute I was walking out of her room and the next she was barging in with that look on her face that said she could kill me right then and there.

I jumped as I heard the door crash back against the wall. Just as I looked over to see who was so furiously entering, Haylee stormed over, stepping between myself and the mirror, which surprised me considering how narrow the space really was. The fact that she'd put herself that close to me was unexpected.

With a look of pure irritation and anger, she quickly reached up and messed up my hair. However, she seemed to get lost in the feeling, and her fingers lingered there for just a split second longer than necessary. I grinned down at her as she went to snatch her hand away.

But I was quicker. As I captured her wrist in my hand and pinned her against the mirror, I told myself that I had to be as cocky as I possibly could be in that moment. The pulse in her arm spiked as I held onto it, just tight enough to feel that beating.

Still grinning, I leaned down, letting my lips feather over the skin beneath her ear. I was greeted by the soft scent of her, an intoxicating smell that made my head fuzzy. She stiffened, her chest rising and falling at a faster pace even though she tried to keep it under control.

"Is there something you need to say Haylee?" My voice came out just as I had planned, that deep, gravelly tone that for some reason girls just couldn't handle. "Such as, 'Hey Luke, hurry up!' Because if so, you should really learn how to use your words before you make a fool of yourself." I laughed quietly and took a small step closer to Haylee, essentially minimizing the space between us.

I could practically hear the thoughts raging through her mind then. She sharply inhaled, holding the breath for a moment before it was shakily released. I smiled as I tried to keep my own breathing calm and steady. She was no different from the girls back home.

Or at least that's what I told myself.

"N-no, Luke. I meant to do that. I figured it'd be more effective," she mumbled, trying to push herself further away despite the wall at her back. I simply shifted slightly toward her again, my knee brushing hers as I placed my free hand against the wall to the right of her head.

"I'm sure this is exactly what you had planned, wasn't it, little Haylee," I whispered. Pressing my lips more surely against her jawline, I lightly nipped at the sensitive area, making her squirm slightly. "I can't say I'm surprised though," I breathed, trying to sound as cocky as I possibly could. Though why, I wasn't really sure. "I knew you'd come around eventually..."
