Chapter 16:

Change

I was walking down a hallway, my departments hallway. It was dark, my gun was in front of me. I yelled JJ's name,

I didn't hear an answer. I heard a small gaged scream. I rushed to the sound and kicked in the door. There was the three women I cared about most.

JJ.

Lizzy.

Strauss.

I saw Anthony, his face was a mess and he had some sick grin on his face, he was holding a gun.

"Which one would you save? If I escaped?" he transformed Into to three people, he had a gun in each of their mouths. I froze in fear.

"Pick Aaron pick! You can save one!"

The snicker on his face filled me with rage. I looked at all three of them and the guns in there mouths.

"Your awful..." I couldn't decide which one to save.

"Lizzy, the girl that misses you oh so much, but she left you!" he mocked me. "JJ, the girl You have growing feelings for, that you won't admit!" I cringed. "Or your own mother, who kept secrets from you, but you know you can't live without her!" he laughed and laughed. I stood there . I could only save one.

"Aaron wake up!" someone shook me out of that awful dream. I leapt up reaching for my gun, she picked it up first and looked at me her mouth open a little in shock and fear.

"I heard you down the hall." she looked away from me and I gulped, even I was afraid for myself.

"It was just a dream..." I think I was more trying to convince myself.

She has her back to me.

"Not when you were screaming Like that."

"It was just a dream."

"But you've never had a nightmare like that have you."

I think that was a statement, and I thought of a way to reply to that.

"In true honesty no. But it scared you more than it scared me."

"Maybe it did. " she was wiping at her eyes, I didn't know how to tell her I was fine. I guess if Jack woke up screaming like I was I'd be scared to.

"I'll be fine it was only a dream." I gulped again, knowing that that wasn't just a dream, it was now plastered in my mind, a worry that Anthony would escape.

"I knew I had a reason to be worried. Your worried about Anthony aren't you."

"Maybe."

"Is that a yes." she stated this.

"Yes..."

"That's what worries me, you being afraid, it leads you to doing something reckless to end your fear."

"That's not what I do!"

"Aaron. You always take things into your own hands, especially when things worry you, you fix them, and usually end up hurt. "

We sat there in silence for a while, our backs to each other, I broke the silence "Why are you up."

"You woke me up."

"No your still dressed, you weren't asleep."

She sighed and looked at me, then her face turned to meet mine.

"I haven't slept well since I gave you up. I've slept better since I told you, but I still don't sleep like I use to."

We sat there for a second.
