Chapter 17:
New Beginnings
(JJ's Point Of View)
When I walked it of the office that day, I got many stares from my team, and head shakes, I got a eyebrow raise from El, and a go girl from Blake, who apparently found my embarrassment funny. I kept my head down, and on the way out, I spotted Hotch by his car. He was leaning up against it, his eyes shut, his lips pressed together, his arms crossed.
I walked up to him.
"Is Jack going with Blake and El tonight?" he nodded.
I leaned on the car next to him, and looked at my shoes.
"About today...." he started off.
"That was... Uncalled for." I finished.
He looked down and shrugged "Maybe. Maybe not."
My heart raced a little and I looked at him. "But aren't you and Lizzy... You know... Together?"
He sighed deeply. "I don't know. Were not together, we just had feelings... But she isn't going to even be back for 5 months, and who says I still have feelings for her." he looked down, and up again at my face.
"But kissing you... That day, when I chased you around that counter, that was feelings."
My face felt hot, I looked down and smiled a little, but I still felt my face flushing a deep red, and my eyes were open wide in excitement and my heart raced quickly. He leaned in again but I said "Ok so you need a ride home?" I jumped into the front seat and heard him chuckle.
I didn't really want him to get upset but I have to ask "Strauss seems a little upset... She told me you were possibly requesting a transfer."
He froze and tensed but replied "That's a long story."
"We have a long drive."
He started explaining Strauss's concern for him, and I understood where she was coming from.
"What brought it on?" I asked looking ahead at the road.
"Me not sleeping well at night." I snickered a little at myself for the whole ordeal me and Strauss had has.
"So in other words you had a bad dream about a case which totally freaked her out." JJ said.
"This is why you should never get in a car with a profiler." I joked and JJ laughed a little. Laughing hurt and I cringed.
"You must've really made her angry she didn't even give you those pills this morning."
"I could've gotten them myself." his stubborn face looked like a 3 year olds who was trying to prove he was big enough to make his own lunch. Hotch cross his arms, he looked almost pouty and it still made me giggle.
We pulled up outside his house, his hands rubbed together, he breathed deeply and he looked a little nervous.
"This is your first time home since..."
He nodded and we got out of the car. When he opened the door he seemed a little overwhelmed.
"Gosh Hotch you need to dust!" I ran my finger along his kitchen counter.
"I don't know how..." he said sheepishly.
"I could teach you." I giggled a little.
"That'd be great because-" he paused and blew dust of the counter "This Does not look clean."
I pushed back a strand of hair and turned to see Hotch staring at me. I blushes again and he turned away plopping on his couch.
