The gates of hell were open and the demons dressed thousand dollar outfits filled the estate. Million dollar cars with lower-class chauffeurs drove up and down the over-sized driveway. Inside of the mansion, a surplus of people occupied the elegant architecture. The bright room created silhouettes on their faces, highlighting the guest's plastic surgery, while they talk about their newest purchase. One closer step to going bankrupt, Lilly thinks.
"Why buy things that break when you could put it to a greater cause?" She surveys the room, nose scrunched at the walking contradictions. "Is that the Mayor?"
Addilyn turns her head towards her, raising an eyebrow. "We have a Mayor?"
"Dear God, please help me get through tonight," Lilly's voice hold humor with an underlining truth to it. She doesn't fit in here, Lilly believes in the opposite of the walking robots around her. Maybe Sage was right?
"Cheer up," Addilyn says, grabbing a nearby wine off a tray a servant carried. "Take this, you'll feel better." The drink in the cool drink is placed in Lilly's hands.
She takes slow sips while Addilyn scans the room looking for Chase. "Where is he?" She mumbles.
"Looking for me?" They both turn around to Mason with a malicious Aria on his arm.
"Oh, Mason. Hi," Addilyn gives him a look then turns to his date. "Aria, so nice for you to join us! I was just looking for Chase, but i'd love to catch up with you later." Lilly glances at Addilyn to see her bright smile.
She seems okay with it, I guess Mason had nothing to worry about. She then looks back at Mason to him staring intensely at Addilyn, like he's communicating with his eyes. What is going on?
"Of course, Addie-Kins!" Aria's thick french accent screeches out.
Two can play at that game. "I can't wait to find out about your new botox, Ari-Pie." Addilyn retaliates, mimicking Aria's voice. The older people surrounding them, look at the pair with fond, glassed over eyes filled with nostalgic memories of their old friendships. If they only knew.
"Addilyn?" A hand snakes around her waist and tightens. It wasn't strong enough to leave bruises, but it was enough to put Addilyn back into her place.
Addilyn doesn't need to look up, she knows his voice like the back of her hand. "Chase."
Chase addresses everyone else in the group, forcing himself to smile at Mason. He stops at Lilly.
"Lilly, long time no see." He states generically. "So, never would of expected you and Jayce."
Lilly gives a closed-mouthed smile and nods. "Nice to see you Chase. Although it is irrelevant to this event, yes, Jayce and I are a couple."
"Sure it is. Where's Jayce anyways? Shouldn't he be here with you?" Shutting you up maybe, before you start talking. Chase can't put his finger on why he does not like Lilly. He just doesn't. It wasn't anything to do with money, she had enough. It wasn't anything to do with status, he never really studied it. Something just told him Lilly knew about all the things he misses out on.
"No." She simply answered.
"Wow!" Aria exclaimed. "Such a strong, independent woman. You don't even need your boyfriend, ya? I need Mason here. He's the best."
Lilly's smile turned flat. "I—. Never mind. I'm just— going to go get some crackers." Lilly's eyes connected with Addilyn's look of disapproval towards Aria. "Can you show me where they are, Addie?"
