Lilly's eyes welled as she constricted both hands around her phone. "Oh my gosh, he was drinking?!"
"Well I don't know.. I'm guessing that's it though. Considering how bad he wrecked my abandoned horse stable. He asked me not to call an ambulance or his father right before he blacked out."
"Are you an idiot?! Call an ambulance now! Who the hell do you think I am, a paramedic?" Lilly sliced at the lady like she was the one to cause the accident.
"Calm down ma'am, he's been at the hospital for about 30 minutes now."
"How and why are you calling on Jayce's phone? That isn't funny! I thought you were him- I thought he was alright... Why would you..." Lilly's breathing began to hitch as she ranted through the phone.
"I need you to calm down... his phone was on when I found him in the car, looks like he was answering your previous call. Since you weren't a father I called you. But you're friend owes me for this stable. I'm sorry if you were the wrong person to call- or if this was a bad time to mention it. I just didn't know what else to do." The lady said in a calm voice, bringing Lilly back to long breathy pants.
"No it's okay ma'am. I'll make sure to see him immediately and the stable will get paid for in full, but its not my main concern right now. Thanks a lot. And I'm sorry, I- I was just... earlier. Can I get your name and address?"
"Yes I'll send it to you- this time on my phone. And no rush to pay me back, I'm sure with a car like that he can afford it when he gets well. His phone will be here for you when you come. Hurry along now, bye."
"Bye." Lilly said hanging up the phone in full sprint to her car, heels and all. She had another stop to make, and she knew it wasn't going to be easy. She had to tell Jayce's family, no matter what he wanted, while they were most likely still partying. The sky roared with distant thunder, and Lilly noticed she had left her roof of the small Bug convertible down.
"Better drive quickly." She said too herself as she back up quickly but carefully into the smooth streets. The car zipped through easily; there was little traffic out on the fresh paved roads.
Only one red light caught Lilly, and of course that's all it took as a cloud burst erupted as soon as the light turned green. Addilyn's house was less than a minute away, she had to endure this until she was there. The circular driveway was packed with chauffeurs picking up their employers, so Lilly parked right where she was, put the roof up, took off her heels, and then ran towards the door.
A family with big noses exited as Lilly entered, and the mother whispered to the son, "We left just in time." Lilly had an annoying urge to ask why they hadn't gotten nose jobs, but there were more important things at hand. She didn't even know what condition Jayce was in. She slipped her shoes back once she was inside before the indoor guess could see her barefoot. Her wet feet sloshed in her heels, making her way too noticeable as crowds within her radius muted to watch the intruder ravage on their party.
Who first? Mr. or Mrs. Holdings? Lilly thought with a furious grin. She didn't like the audience watching, because she wasn't on a stage. Maybe it should be viewers' choice.
"Has anyone seen one of the Holdings?" Lilly addressed the crowd.
"Are you his mom?" A teen called out. His mom shot him a look, while the rest never broke their stares of wonder. "I mean... They are behind you, a little on the left."
Lilly whipped around to face the couple. Her wet hair splashed on the boy's face. "Ew, wet hobo hair." His mom grabbed his shoulder and gave him another look, trying to remind him of manners he never possessed.
