Calum - to her

My Gracie,

I figured I'd just try talking to you today.

Talking about that day, well what I can remember of it that is anyway.

So here goes.

We had all gone for lunch that morning, well afternoon by the time Luke was ready.

Me, you, Luke, Ashton and Michael. Ashton and me ordered cheese omelettes, whereas you, Michael and Luke shared a humungous stack of banana pancakes.

Disgusting choice by you three if you ask me, but you already knew that. Where's the damn bacon guys?

Michael had started telling us about something Ashton had planned for the day but you had spaced out completely, so Luke waved his hands in front of your eyes singing 'Gracie are you in there?'

When you reverted your gaze back to the group, we almost pissed ourselves laughing.

Ashton's big idea had been a midnight scavenger hunt, so we all had to go home and prepare for the hunt and reconvene at 6pm at Luke's place.

Do you remember Grace? He had us all over Sydney collecting these clues. It was every man for himself, me and Michael were usually last to figure out the riddles and drive to each place, finding you guys already there or leaving.

You and Luke were at the school swimming baths (the one you'd broken into with Mike) listening to Ashton read the next clue when your phone rang.

Me and Michael showed up while you were finishing up on the phone and when you turned to face us all you said was.

'Oh man I'm fucked'

We all drove back to Luke's in our own cars and figured whatever shit you were gonna get we'd all go and get with you. So it was me, you and Michael in one car and Ashton and Luke followed behind.

We knew it wouldn't end well which is probably why we all cried hysterically the whole way home.

But when we all walked through your door it was deadly silent. We found them in the kitchen sitting around the island.

The conversation was short but final.

'Grace do you know what time it is?"

'It's 12:30," I all but whispered.

"Your curfew is 11:00 young lady, that's strike five,"

"Dad you said if she's with me-"

"Ashton stay out of it,"

"But dad you did say if I'm with him I can stay out later!"

"Well that was until I knew you'd be with these-"

"Don't speak about our friends like that!" Ashton screamed.

"I'll speak about them how-"

"Dad your being so judgmental!" I yelled.

"Don't speak to your father like that Gracelyn. Now enough is enough. Tomorrow we'll be leaving Sydney, now the rest of you GET OUT MY HOUSE!"

And within minutes your father had thrown us all out.

Most of what comes next to mind is hazy, I remember us all climbing through your window and crying with you both.

I remember us going over plans to runaway, I remember us arguing about not wanting you to leave and then I can only remember us waking up in your bed alone.

What am I missing baby?
