"If you tell the truth, you don't have to remember anything."
― Mark Twain
Chapter 15
"Hello, sweets" his lovely voice sang from the open window to my side.
I jumped in my chair and turned around to see Mason leaning against the windowsill with a smirk on his face. He wore a long sleeved buttoned shirt with white jeans. I couldn't help noticing the stub of diamond on his ear.
"Why are you here?" I gave him a dirty look only to see him frown in dismay.
"The question is why am I not here everyday" and as far as he could, his head stuck out and his eyes roamed around the kitchen room,"it's a really nice place you've got here. Thought I should come here more often"
"No" I got up from the chair and grabbed the handle of the window and pulled it down half way until his hand caught it."Let go" I said aggressively trying to pull it down.
"Sweets" he pouted, holding on."When did you get so strong"
"Oh shut up!" my face burned red."You're not even trying" I whined, telling him to let go.
"I feel like I'm breaking in" he guffawed, still not removing his hand with determination.
"I hate you!" I screamed, giving up. And slowly seeing him letting go and blinking his eyes rapidly at me. How rude of me.
"You don't mean th--" I shut him off and threw the windowsill done. I stuck out my tongue, mocking him through the glass and held onto the drapes while giving him funny looks. And with a satisfying finish I blocked him out with curtain. I win.
I turned around back to the kitchen table to finish my homework without interruptions. It was the afternoon from coming back from school. In the morning, luckily, Alec picked me up early enough so I wouldn't be late. He barley spoke to me half the time, but that was the least of my worries at the moment. These days it's been hectic. Exams were coming two weeks, so this was a chance for me to study. There's no way I'm failing this time. All of my grades have dropped by four percent all because of the bullshit that's happened over the past...ever.
The phone rang after holding my pencil. Great. Interruptions after Interruptions.
I didn't bother checking the ID number and put it to my ear, "hello" I exclaimed in a cheery voice.
"Open the door, sweets" ugh.
I opened the door and gave him an annoyed look,"what do you want? Really?"
"Well, sweets, I do want you're company, for one"
"What happened to 'sweetheart'" I raised my eyebrow.
He laughed and scratched his hair,"tryin' out new things, won't kill me"
I gave him a devious,"Yes, yes it will"
"Oh I love it when you're dangerous" he pretended to shiver in place."It's a thrill!"
"Shut up, Mason" I tried closing the door until he's foot was in the way. He's always in the way. I tried my best to compose myself, because frankly, I was so close to losing it."You know what, jus--just come in, for fuck sakes, Mason, just do what you want"
"Never tell a man to do whatever he wants," he stepped inside the house and onto the welcome mat."'cuz he might just do it" he winked at me and started walking to the dining room.
