What was the best smell in the world?  Campfires.  The smell of a campfire was your favorite scent.

John had decided to stop and it was late.  You three gathered up the wood and John lit the fire.

"Thanks dad," you said.

"No problem, (Y/N).  I'm glad you like it.  Besides, it's been a long ride.  I think we all needed this."

The last thing you remember was hearing stories being told around the campfire.

___________

You shot up in bed, upset that it was just a memory that occurred twenty years ago.

Dean was out, Sam wasn't up yet, and Castiel was just staring at the static on the television.

If he starts talking about the ghosts in the t.v., I'm out.

You remembered watching Poltergeist with Cas last night, but you don't remember ever going to bed.

"Good morning, Cas," you groggily greeted.

"Good morning, (Y/N)," he responded.  "Did you sleep well?"

You nodded.  That was a very peaceful dream.  One of the best memories of dad.

"Where's Dean?"

"I'm not sure.  He was gone when I came back.  Why is the magic box doing this?"

"It's because-" you actually weren't sure.  You also weren't sure why you decided to watch Poltergeist that late at night.

"Did Dean leave anything that would let us know when he'd be back?"

Before Castiel answered you heard a door open.  Mr. Moosetronio was awake.

"Morning Sam," you greeted.

Then, Dean walked in through the front door, carrying bundles of wood.

"What's that for," Cas asked.

"We're going to have a campfire tonight," Dean admitted slowly.  "Haven't had one in a while, and I thought it would be nice to have another one."

Yes, you internally squealed.

_____________

I

t was probably eight pm, but you, Sam, Dean, and even Castiel we're setting up the campfire.

"Why do people make fires?  Isn't that dangerous," a confused angel questioned.

"It depends on how close to the fire you get.  That's why, when we make s'mores, you won't be making them," you told him.

"I remember when dad had us build a campfire.  That's probably the best memory I have of him," Sam admitted.

"

Yeah," you and Dean chorused.

"Well," you interrupted after the long silence.  "Who's ready for some s'mores?"

Needless to say, you all enjoyed the fire.  It was like you were ten years old again.
