"Alright, let's try again from the top," L said through a megaphone, which I didn't know how he obtained. I never remembered him owning one before that day, and I had a feeling he was doing it for his own amusement.
"Tell me, Misa. Is it true you once said that you came to Tokyo in order to meet Kira?" Aiber asked her once again.
"What?" Misa gasped as she flailed her arms and legs in what I guessed was supposed to be a surprised manner. I groaned and rubbed my eyes.
L bapped her on the head with the megaphone before saying through it, "Misa, please stop overreacting. It looks too cheesy, not to mention fake."
I pointed out, "You're supposed to do stuff like this for a living. Honestly, what person sounds like that?"
She looked at us over the back of the couch and pouted, "Huh? But I thought that was a realistic performance."
He sighed, "Just do it again."
"Whatever you say, oh-so great directors," she said sarcastically as she waved her hands around.
"If you don't get serious about this, I'll kick you," he threatened.
I vouched, "He isn't joking. That's happened on a multitude of occasions to me."
"You deserved it every time."
"Says you!"
After having Aiber send in the report like we asked him to to the Yotsuba Group, they called back quickly with questions about having Misa as their new spokesperson. He set it up for him to help interrogate her for information on L during her job interview, and we were rehearsing all of the lines. It wasn't going too well at the moment, but I suspected everything would go smoothly, even if the interview was the next day. Plus, with Mogi being her new manager, I knew he'd keep a close eye on her while he could.
And it seemed I was right. The next day, Matsuda said, "Misamisa sure is late." He had been worrying about her for the past few hours. I looked at my watch. I guess it was getting a little late, but I figured it was just traffic. My attention turned to the doors when they opened, "They're back!"
Misa waved, "Hey!" Then she groaned and sat in Light's lap. "Oh, I'm exhausted."
"Hey!" Light protested.
"How did everything pan out?" I wondered.
Mogi informed us, "Yotsuba agreed to hire Misa as their spokesperson for the new ad campaign."
"I see. That's good to hear," L praised.
"Congratulations, Misa," I said.
She smiled in response to us, "And I made sure to give them my cellphone number." Misa took out her phone and showed it to Light. "Would you believe three out of the seven guys already messaged me asking for a private date?"
Matsuda gasped like a parent might, "What?"
"So, now I accept their invitations and then investigate them, right? Oh, it's going exactly as I planned!"
"No. The plan's getting canceled right now," Light intervened. I sighed, Light, not again.
"Huh? But why? Everything's been going so smoothly up until now," she looked back at him.
He pushed on her shoulder lightly, and she got off him, "If we go any further, you'll be in danger. You can still appear in their commercials, but from now on, you should deny that you were suspected of being the second Kira and thus detained by L. Mogi will continue being your bodyguard, but you'll be working thoroughly as a celebrity." I wanted to point out that she was already in a bunch of danger and might as well continue, but I knew that he wasn't going to back down so easily that time. She was doing enough, and maybe that was going to be all we needed to do.
She sighed, "If that's what you want, Light, then that's what I'll do."
L and I looked at each other and knew we were thinking the same thing. That obviously wasn't genuine, and she was going to do what she thought would help him most. He leaned over and whispered in my ear, "We need to keep an eye on her, especially when you two are upstairs. Try to keep track of who she makes contact with through her phone." I nodded in response, and he leaned back.
"Well, I'm feeling pretty tired. Tomorrow's shot is bright and early, so I better get some sleep," Misa excused herself as she waved to us and walked away. She giggled a little, too. I wondered if something was up.
I stood and agreed, "Yeah, it's getting late. It's been a few days since I last slept. I'll go with you, Misa." I started up the stairs after her but stopped when she leaned against the doorway.
"Hey, Light, wanna come sleep with me tonight?"
"What?" I froze.
"Wha-What are you talking about?" Light replied.
She grinned, "Just kidding! You'll save me for after we catch Kira, right? You don't have to be shy about it. I'm sure Hikari and Ryuzaki are doing the same thing."
"What?" I shrieked. She laughed and ran off into the hall.
L spoke up, "Yes, Light. There's no need to be shy about it."
Light defended, "I'm not being shy!"
L replied, "No need to be so serious, either."
I exclaimed, "But you could be more modest!"
He looked over his shoulder at me, "Why should I be? Isn't what she said true? Besides, it's a natural process."
My jaw dropped, and I felt myself blushing. I tried covering my face. "Don't talk like that!" I saw L smirk and raged, continuing up the steps, "Oh, you're going to pay for teasing me like this!"
"Eh, it's worth it," he shrugged. I growled and stomped away, not being able to stop my blush.
