"(Y/n)! Time to wake up!" Your own personal alarm screeched into your ear. You rolled over, pulling the blanket over your head. "Go away BEN. I'm in denial for a little while longer..." You muttered, groggily.

Today, despite your efforts at ignoring it, was your birthday. You were turning (age) today, not a huge accomplishment in your book. To make things even worse, you knew your parents weren't going to be here to help celebrate, not that they bothered to remember it after what had happened years ago.

"You can't sleep forever!" BEN said, bouncing on the bed next to your head. You sighed grumpily and threw the covers off. "Let me suffer in silence." You said, glaring at his smiling face. BEN shook his head and grabbed your hands, dragging you to your feet with surprising strength. "Happy Birthday (Y/n)!" He said. You sighed and smiled against your will. "Thanks BEN..." You said with a yawn. BEN smirked, "Stop your yawning and meet me down stairs when you are ready."

After you both had arrived home from the incident at the mansion, you were pretty exhausted. You cleaned up what little wounds you had before retiring to bed quickly. Who knew kidnapping would make you so tired.

You stared in the mirror with a sigh, running the brush again through your (h/c) hair. You were dressed in a (f/c) tank top with black skinny jeans, attempting to keep it comfortable in some way. You had to face the facts at some point that today just wouldn't be better than you were hoping. It never would be with the past hanging over your head like a noose. You shook your head and walked down the stairs silently, hair hanging in front of your face.

"Here's your surprise." A voice said from the kitchen. You lifted your head and laughed. There, in the middle of the counter, was a large leaning stack of pancakes dripping with syrup and whip cream. To make everything even better, BEN was wearing your mother's apron to protect his tunic. He claimed that washing it would ruin its 'torturous and drowned' feeling. "Wow BEN. I didn't think you could cook." You said, staring at the dangerously stacked pancakes. BEN shrugged, "I can't. But she can."

Suddenly you were lurched forward, arms wrapped around your back. "Happy birthday (Y/n)!" Your best friend screamed into your ear. You stared at BEN, wondering why he let her in. He shrugged and took of the apron, to your displeasure. "Thanks (Bf/n), but you didn't have to... You know I don't like to celebrate much." You said. She let go of you and shrugged, "That never mattered to me before, did it?" She asked happily. "Now eat!"

You sighed, fending off a smile. Grabbing the fork next to the plate you sat down and began eating. (Bf/n) sat across the counter from you and leaned forward. "So, (Y/n), why didn't you tell me you had a boyfriend?" You coughed, choking a bit on your pancakes. You could hear BEN laughing hysterically behind you. "No! Heck no! You have the wrong idea." You said, syrup dripping down your chin. (Bf/n) laughed, leaning back in her chair. "Suuuuurrre, (Y/n). Keep him all to yourself if you want." You felt your cheeks flush red, but you just shoved more pancakes into your mouth.

Despite the friendly atmosphere of the kitchen, you couldn't help but remember your nightmare from the other night. You weren't sure how safe your best friend was around BEN. The sickening sound of blood infiltrated your mind, nearly causing you to gag on your pancakes. "You know, I think I'm full..." You said, pushing the barely touched plate of food away from you. (Bf/n) looked at you curiously, but didn't ask any questions. "Alright. Present time!" She said, running into the living room.

You rolled your eyes and walked towards the doorway. Before you could go far, BEN grabbed your wrist stopping you from going any further. He looked down at you, red irises staring into your (e/c) eyes. "What was that about?" He asked, trying and failing not to seem too concerned. You shrugged, avoiding his gaze. "Nothing. I'm just... reliving memories." You lied. BEN released your arm, not pressing you for any further details.

"Here (Y/n)! Happy birthday!" (Bf/n) squealed, shoving a large bag full of paper into your arms. You smiled and set it down on the table. "Thanks..." You said, beginning to pull out the paper. The first thing you pulled out was a CD from (favorite band). You grinned, flipping it over excitedly. "Wow. I didn't even know this was out yet!" Your best friend rolled her eyes, "Of course you didn't. You've been living under a rock." You laughed and set the disk aside, reaching in to pull out the next item. Reaching in, you pulled out a small box. Upon opening it, you found a small glass (favorite animal.) You stared at it lovingly before glancing at (Bf/n). "How did you afford all this?" You ask. She shrugged, "I have my methods." She said, leaning back comfortably into the couch. The last thing you pulled out was another CD, but this time it was a game. "Figured I'd get you that game you wanted. What was it called? Slender? Something about pages?" (Bf/n) said. You laughed, a sort of nervous, high-pitched laugh. "Thanks so much!" You said, gently setting down the disk. The irony of that gift was almost too much to handle sanely.

You packed up the all the paper. "So what do you want to do?" You asked your best friend, happily. She sighed before standing up, "Actually, Benny here only invited me for a while. Something about a romantic night on the town and not wanting a third wheel." She smirked. You looked at BEN in shock. He was glaring at a hysterically laughing (Bf/n). "I didn't say that! I just had a final surprise!" He said. Your best friend rolled her eyes, "Same thing." She shrugged, "Either way, have fun (Y/n). At least try."

Despite your efforts to make her stay, you and your best friend eventually said goodbye, leaving you and BEN. "So... romantic night on the town huh?" You laughed. BEN rolled his eyes, "Just shut up and follow me."
