“Miss?”
Lana’s head hurt more than she remembered it hurting the first time. “Where am I?”
“Hogwarts,” the voice replied, “Specifically, you’re in my office.”
“Hmm?” Lana asked, sitting up and opening her eyes.
Her vision was blurry for a moment as everything came rushing back to her; the battle with Voldemort, Regina telling her Severus was dead, Sirius, Cedric…
I did it. I fixed the world.
Somehow, she thought she’d be a little happier about it. “What happened?” she asked as she rubbed her eyes. “Where’s Voldemort?”
“Voldemort?” the voice asked, shocked, “He’s been dead for some time, now. I’m afraid you may have hit your head somehow… maybe I should take you to the Hospital Wing—”
Lana raced to her feet, suddenly seeing everything clearly. She recognized the woman across from her; she’d been a member of the Order, Minerva McGonagall.
“He’s dead?” she asked, “How’d that happen?”
“I think you should go to the Hospital Wing,” McGonagall suggested, eyeing her quizzically.
“How did Voldemort die?” Lana repeated urgently.
“He was killed,” said the woman, flustered, “By Harry Potter.”
“Harry Potter is alive?” Lana’s face lit up, “And Voldemort’s dead? I did it! I did it!”
“Did what?” McGonagall asked, confused.
Lana looked at her. “Sorry, but if I told you, you wouldn’t believe me, so I can’t tell you.” She shrugged and rushed out of the office, slamming the door shut behind her.
Hogwarts was nothing like she remembered it. It was bright and alive with students of all ages.
It must be the new school year, Lana thought, How long have I been gone?
The students stared at her as she walked past them. She realized how she must’ve looked; her hair was long and disheveled, her clothes ragged and torn, and covered in Sirius’s blood, at that. She ignored the stares and wandered about the grounds, looking around in complete awe.
The world is normal again. Everything is the way it should be. And all because of me.
But my world will never be normal again. Not after everything I’ve experienced… I was a muggle when I left this place. Now I’m a witch.
She smiled at the thought. I’m a witch.
Then she remembered something. She reached for her pocket and was shocked, and disappointed, to find that James’s wand was gone.
Well, I guess I can’t keep it forever… He would need it in this world, wouldn’t he?
She past the Quidditch Pitch, dozens of students flying around on broomsticks. People were standing with their feet in the lake, lying out on the grass with their Hogwarts cloaks spread out around them, casting spells, laughing, talking.
