Chapter 28

Heyaaaaaaa~~ :D sorry for the late update! It's been super busy lately and my house is going under renovation soon so I might not be able to update that much anymore. I'm SO sorry!!! :((. But please do bear with me and stick to this story! Thank you :)

" Come on, just do it Alice! " Ellie urged, giving me her annoyed look.

" But I'm scared! " I replied, throwing her an exasperated look.

" Don't be such a pussy! "

" I'm not! I'm just scared! "

" She's right, Alice. Just do it. Stop giving him false hope. " Chris cut in, also giving me his annoyed and irritated look.

" What am I supposed to say? Hey Bryan I'm dating Chris now sorry I've never made it clear but hope we can still be friends? "

" Yes. " Ellie, Jason and Chris chorused.

I stared at the trio sitting in front of me. 3 against 1 isn't fair.

" Come on Alice! Use your pussy! " Jason said, while stuffing fries into his mouth.

I gaped at him. Did he just said what I think he just said?

" You say what now? "

" I said, " Jason replied, now giving me his are-you-dumb-or-what look, " Use you pus- "

" Jason! " That boy has officially gone crazy.

" What? "

" You, ugh! Chris! Ellie! " I threw my hands in the air, frustrated.

" Yes, Alice? " The trio chorused.

" You guys should be grateful that I love all of you. "

" Alice I'm not a guy! " Ellie whined.

Shooting daggers at all of them, I continued eating my sandwich.

I quickly sneaked a glance at Bryan who was sitting at the popular table. Expected, a crowd of girls was crowding around Bryan and he had his signature smirk on his face. I shook my head. I knew he was faking it. After getting to know him more, he told me all his fears and that the real Bryan Baldwin wasn't arrogant or proud. He had to plaster that fake smile in school, but at least deep down he was a real good person. Hey, he even told me about his dad, which means that he trusted me. Can't ask for anymore.

Same as me, he lost his mom when he was young, and his dad was working a lot and thus, not being able to spend time with him that much. Bryan and his dad are close, which is better than me, who doesn't have a dad or mom anymore. Chris's parents are still here, and they treat me like their own daughter, which I'm grateful for, but I still miss my own parents.

Strange that I didn't have any memories of them. What did I forget? What happened to my parents? Why did they die? Exactly what happened in my childhood?

" Alice! " Chris shouted.

" Huh? "

" Are you okay? You've been staring into space for the last few minutes. " Concern was plastered all over his face.

" I'm fine. " Giving him a smile, I continued eating my sandwich, while looking at Bryan.

I needed to make it clear to Bryan. I was giving him false hope and I'm not someone like that. Bryan caught my stare and gave me a smile. I smiled back weakly. Yep, I need to make it clear.

" Bryan! " I shouted.

Bryan stopped in his tracks and turned back with a big smile on his face. His friends went on, but still looked confused as he did. Why would Bryan take notice of a nobody? Hey, ask someone else. I too have no idea.

" Hey Alice. What's up? "

" Um...can I talk to you for a moment? "

" Sure, here I am. "

" I mean privately. "

" Sure, lets to to the roof then. "

Bryan began pulling me to the stairs. " But isn't the roof off access? " I asked.

" You wanted privacy so this is the best place I could think off. "

I frowned but said nothing, as I followed him up.

When he opened the door, a gush of wind came and I was instantly captured in the cool breeze.

" Thought you'd like it here."

" Are you kidding? I love it. "

Bryan gave me a grin. " So what did you want to talk about? "

" Um...well... "

" Yep? "

" Icantgooutwithyoubecauseimdatingchris. "

Bryan stared at me puzzled, and I blushed, ducking my head in embarrassment. I looked at my shoes and started again, slowly this time.

" I'm dating Chris. "

A look of shock was on Bryan's face, but was replaced by confusion, then disappointment and lastly sadness.

" Oh. "

" Uh yeah...I just had the feeling to tell you. "

" How long has it been since you guys started dating? "

" Around a month. Just started. "

" Then I'll tell you something. " Bryan said, seriousness on his face.

" Okay? "

" I love you, Alice. "

That sentenced hit me like a ton of bricks. Bryan loved me? The schools king loved me? Was it the end of the world? I was Alice Walker for god sake. No one used to love me, or even payed attention to me!

" You know, around this time your supposed to say something, not stand there speechless. It just makes things more awkward. "

" Oh. Sorry... " I looked at Bryan, and tried my best to stifle my laughter.

His face was as red as a tomato! And his neck was shrunk into the collar of his shirt, and he was too busy looking like a turtle to pay attention to me.

" Thanks. " I replied, once I managed to calm down.

Bryan smiled at me, before leaving.

I just broke someone's heart and it wasn't good. But I loved Chris, so sacrifices had to be made. Not everything can go smoothly.

Sighing, I took one last look at the view in front of me, before walking towards the door. I had just took the first step of the stairs, before I felt someone using something to hit the back of my head.

Pain shot up and I could feel blood trickling down. The smell of it instantly hit my nostrils and everything became fuzzy and blurry.

" What the-"

Before I knew it, I missed a step and rolled down the stairs, before landing with a sickening thud on the floor. And then everything went black.
