It's been three days since all of this nonsense has happened. The electricity went out a day ago and that means no stove, microwave, oven, fridge, etc. is working. Therefore, all of our refrigerated foods are spoiled and I tossed them out. Now, Teagan and I are surviving on the food that can be handmade and not anything cookable. We still haven't seen mom and dad come home. Teagan is officially scared to death so now he sleeps with me...and his T-rex. I was bored and Teagan wanted to go outside so I ran up the stairs and got the .22 revolver. I found a holster for it when I was searching through one of dads NRA bags. I ran back down the stairs and waited 5 minutes for Teagan to get on a shoe.
We went to the old Oak tree, where mom, dad, Teagan, and I would sit and watch the stars. We had a lot of memories there. They all started to flood back into my mind. Even though they never paid much attention to me, I still love and miss them. I wonder if they are zombies or just rotting somewhere. Yeah, I decided that they were zombies. They ate flesh, they moaned a lot and they are a dead decomposing body that is still able to walk or crawl. I was lost in my thought when I noticed no sound. I looked around me and he was gone, again. God, why does he keep going off without me? When I find him I am setting ground rules.
So, I began to restlessly search around the farm. I was by the old barn which was quite far from the house but I thought I saw something. I looked around the hay bales when I heard a crunching sound. I pulled out my gun. I've never shot one before, but I don't think you needed to be a genius on how to shoot a gun. I looked around and saw Teagan. He had a twisted face.
"Teagan what's wrong?"
"Him,"Teagan spoke very softly while pointing to the left of me.
I turned to the left to see a boy, about my age with brown hair and puppy brown eyes. He was tan and at least 2 inches taller than me. He'd have to be like 5'8 or something near that. He was kind of cute, but he looked like a threat to me.
"Don't move" I snapped at him.
He put lowered his gun and spoke in a deeper voice "I'm not going to hurt you. I was just returning... Uh, Teagan" He glances a Teagan.
"Did you take him?"
"No, what would I do with a 4-year-old?" He gave me a confused look.
"Then why did you say you were returning him?" I arched my eyebrow while asking him.
"Because he saw me and decided that it would be fun to follow me." He glared at me. No one glares at me.
"What are you getting at? And don't glare at me."
"I should go."
"Answer my question." He backed away towards the door. and abruptly stopped when he heard me cock the gun.
He was about to turn the corner but he said "My name's Michael by the way. What's yours?"
"Katherine May"
He nodded his head in satisfaction or something like that. He walked around the corner so I couldn't see him. That was very, very weird. I turned to Teagan.
"Get over here now!" I now had a sudden rush of anger come to me.
He dashed over to me and said he was sorry.
"Don't ever go off without me. This world isn't safe anymore. People will kill you if you aren't careful."
" Then why didn't Michael kill us?"
"I don't know, he was different."
"Is that good or bad?"He asked. He was confused like me.
"I haven't decided yet."
We made our way back to the house in silence. I wasn't in the mood for talking. I just wanted to figure out what was different about that Michael guy. Teagan and I ate and went up to bed.
It was early morning when I was walking in the dense forest. I knew it was early morning because the sun had just come up. You could still see the fog just below your shins. You could smell the scent of water and the earth. I always loved that smell. You could see the vibrant colors of the fallen relish brown and yellow leaves that had just fallen to the ground not too long ago. Up ahead there was a doe and her fawn eating the not to much-overgrown grass. I was observing everything when I looked to the left. Something was looking at me dead in the eyes. It had yellow bloodshot eyes. Its skin had been peeled and its clothes were all torn and dirty. You could see some bones. Its teeth were disgusting. They were green and yellow. It didn't even have any but only a few teeth left. It limped towards me. I backed away but it crept closer and closer to me. Why wasn't I moving? I needed to move. I could smell it. The smell was very strong and it stung your nostrils. It was as if you buried some who had recently died, but then you reopen the grave. In other words, it smelled like decay. It was only a few feet away and it moaned, a horrible disgusting moan. I reached out its arms to grab me....
I woke up out of breath. I sat up in my bed. Thank god it was only a dream. I looked out my window and nothing was there. I sighed and laid back down. I looked over at Teagan who was silently cuddling with his T-rex. I looked at him for a few more minutes until I dozed off again.
Author's Note: I think that was the best chapter so far...?Lol IDK
