The blazing ray of sun shining in through my window woke me up. I sat up and rubbed my eyes. I looked around and hopped out of bed. I put on some leggings and a black and white plaid button down T-shirt with my black combat boots. I crept down the stairs to make sure I didn't wake Michael. I turned the corner to the kitchen and Michael was there. He was reading a book. Wow, who the hell would read a book in the middle of an apocalypse?
"Morning,"He said casually.
"Uh, yeah. Morning. Can I ask what you might be doing up reading a book?"
"I heard some walkers downstairs and decided to kill em. Once I got done I found this book and read. Anything else you want to know?"
I thought for a moment. I actually had a dozen...no, more than a dozen questions to ask him. "How.... How have you been able to survive on your own?"
"Ha. Good question. I haven't been on my own. Well, not for very long anyways. I separated from my group. That's all."
"Oh...okay. Who was in your group?"
"My dad, little sister, an older couple, a few of mom's friends. And someone my dad met when all this shit started to happen."
Why didn't he say his mom? I wasn't going to ask that question but it still stuck in my head. Wait, why did he say walkers?
"What are walkers?"
"Walkers? You know. The decaying creatures with rotting teeth. They want to tear to shreds and rip out your insides while you're still alive and eat you" He had a smirk on his face.
"Okay, you didn't have to put it like that...and why would you put it like that? Also, why do you call them Walkers exactly?"
"Have you never seen The Walkind Dead? It's like a big show. Well it was anyways."
"Oh, I completely forgot about that show...so I'm going to go scavenge for food and medical stuff" I turned around and started to walk to the door.
I moved about two feet when Michael grabbed my arm and spun me around draping one arm around my waist. He let go if my arm and pulled my chin up to look at him. I seriously think my heartbeat was going a thousand miles per hour.
"You aren't going out alone. At least not while I'm around" He smiled that damn crooked smile.
I felt heat rise in my cheeks. Why does he have to be like that? "Oh.... Okay" I shuddered.
He dropped the smile and let go of my chin and waist. He ran upstairs and got his gun. When he came back down he motioned me to follow him. Was I really going to trust him and follow him to god now's where?
Apparently I was going to trust him because we'd been walking for hours on the road. It was so silent. I looked at the surrounding cars. They all had been rusted and worn. I wonder if a car still works. Michael broke the silence.
"We're here."
I looked up to examine the huge mansion. How did I never find this place? It looked quite old looking. It was made of brick and most windows were broken. There were vines growing along the tall walls.
Author's note: Aye! Okay so this chapter wasn't that good and it was like 550 words short. I just couldn't think of how to end this so I ended it like that. I plan on making chapter 7 better. I'm having trouble coming up with chapter name so I gave up on. They may just get stupid (hints the Wakey wakey time to get that butt shakey and Mac N Cheese) and I'll take them off.
