The next day was sort of okay, but Michael and Dylan got into yet, another fight. I can tell that they had some issues but I didn't think it was that bad. I heard them screaming at each other outside and Michael came storming into our room and grabbed his gun and left.

"Michael," I yelled running after him.

"Leave me alone."

"Where are you going?"

"None of your business."

"Hey stop," I grabbed his arm. He shoved me away and screamed at me.

"Just fuck off for once will you. When someone says they want to be alone, they want to be alone." He glared at me and continued to walk.

I sighed and got up. I could blame him, only because I didn't really know what the fight is. I just wanted to know where he was going. I proceed to follow Michael even though he told me not to. He just needed to cool off before I talked to him. he went up to the barn where we were the night before and just sat there. I couldn't see his face, but I could hear him crying. I stood up from my hiding spot and walked up to him and touched his shoulder. He looked up at me, tears rimmed his chocolate eyes.

"We were all together when it happened."

"What happened?" I sat down next to him holding his hand.

"We were surrounded by the bastards when my mom had finished giving birth to Mckayla."

He was talking about his mom. I scooted closer to him, and he held me.

"We didn't have ammo or anything with us at the time because we were robbed by some jackasses. They all came in at once. I was trying to hold them back while everyone else escaped. There was a window that everyone was crawling up and out of, but when I got up there, my mom was almost up there. She slipped and fell back down and....it was too late." he paused for a minute," that day, I vowed to never let anything happen to anyone in my family. When you came, that promise became more powerful. I'd do anything to save anyone, and everyone, if I had a cure for this, I would give it to everyone and save this crumbling world."

I had to think, I'm not very good at sympathetic stuff with people, "I'm so sorry Michael, I had no idea that...that happened to you or anyone. It never really occurred to me..." how do I say that?

he sniffed, "No one does until it happens to them."

"So...does this relate to your fight with your dad?"

"Yeah, he's just too protective and then he brings up mom and it pisses me off. He treats me like a child, granted I'm not as old as him, but I can defend myself."

"Your dad just has a lot of pressure on him. He'd kind of the leader of the group, and he has to look after everyone. he just wants you to stay safe."

"I know, I know, but I'm saying  he doesn't have to worry, that's all."

"Well, he isn't going to ever quit."

"I know."

We sat there in silence for a while. There was a huge window in front of us and we could see a meadow out there, it was actually really peaceful. I'm in that place where I'm not mad, happy, or sad. I'm just, normal. relaxed I guess. We stayed there for a little while, just letting everything soak in. Around noon we went back and Michael was completely calm, but he wasn't talking to anyone but me and Mckayla. I could see how upset Dylan was too. He can't really hide his emotions very well. I pulled him aside from everyone and told him everything that Michael basically said. Dylan looked a little relieved that Michael wasn't exactly mad at him, but he was still showing signs I guess. Although, it's pretty normal for teenagers to be like that. I don't think Michael was like that until his mom's death, that's my guess anyways.

A/N: Aye guys, I think I might start making the chapters shorter because I didn't realize how long it can be for someone to read a huge chapter and I get bored reading a chapter that's too long (even if I'm interested in the book). That's just my perspective though.
