We stayed at the hotel for a few nights. Nothing big has happened, as usual. But when I think/say something, it usually does. McKayla has a little cough, and it's starting to get cold. I went walking outside because why not and the leaves were starting to turn. The wind picked up too. I felt not empty...but contained. It's hard to explain. For the past few days, I haven't really had an emotion. My mind keeps thinking of Teagan and my parents. I was sitting on an old stump just thinking to myself about all that I could've done or changed in that time.
"I looked through almost all off town trying to find you,"Michael said sitting down on the stump too.
"Sometimes I wish they didn't exist. So I wouldn't grieve over them," I said.
"Who?"
"My parents, family, friends, Teagan..."
"I was that way too. It's really difficult for me a lot of times. I'm definitely not the guy I was months ago. My friends are either the others...brutal killers, or dead. I don't like either of those options that they could be either. I try not to think about it, and you should too. You're too chippy for those thoughts."
"Chippy?" I looked up at him.
"Yeah, chippy. C'mere" He pulled me into a hug.
He was right, I needed to stay as happy as I could. That's what they'd all want too, "It looks like winter's coming here soon."
"I know, we need find a permanent spot. I'm not sure how well we'll do this winter."
"Yeah, I'm worried about Mckayla most though."
"It's just a little cough, and we're giving her medicine. She'll be fine. Let's go do something fun." Michael got up and pulled me with him.
"What're we gonna do?"
"Well, I see a huge hill and my body so why not roll down it?" He smiled.
"And get grass stains and itch, no thanks."
"Katy, your clothing is basically blood, mud, and cloth. What's grass gonna do?"
"What about itching?"
"Suck it up buttercup."
We went to the top of the hill. This'll be fun...
"Ladies first," He bowed.
"I'll do the honors," I walked up behind him and pushed him to the ground.
I rolled him off the hill before he could reject. His scream was probably the funniest part of it too. When he was at the bottom, I took my turn. It was actually a lot of fun. We did it several times and by the end I was calling Michael a badly made sushi roll. Our stomachs hurt from how much we were laughing.
"I'm going to call you that for the rest of your life," I said clutching my stomach laughing.
"Wait, would it be bad for me to eat myself then..."
"Ew, yes."
"Wait, but if I'm a food, then it's okay."
"You're a very unusual sushi roll."
"I know, and you like it." He tackled me and kissed me. The only difference between this kiss and the rest is we didn't break it. We stayed there for a minute just letting it happen. He pulled away and pulled something from my hair.
"You had a piece of grass in your hair," he half smiled.
"I'm sure I do. After all, we are laying in grass."
"Yeah, you still look beautiful though."
He always seemed to make me blush, "Stop."
"What?"
"Don't call me beautiful," I smiled.
"Sorry, I can't lie and I kind of have no filter."
"Well contain yourself."
"I can't when I'm around you."
We both smiled at each other and grabbed his face and pulled him in for one more.
It was a little past dark and we were still out. We went a little bit outside of town to an abandoned barn. We were up at the top watching the bright colors fade into a dark blue and black.
"Would you consider this a date?"
"Yeah, probably the first...in my opinion. You?" I said.
"Hell yeah. I wish I could've taken you out on a real date ya know. I would've probably taken you to a movie, maybe dinner, definitely ice cream. It would've been awesome." He chuckled.
"That's very sweet of you, I don't know how much my dad would've like that though," I laughed.
"He would've warmed up to me, I know it. I'm a pretty likable guy."
"You say that, but you've never had a conversation with yourself." I laughed.
"Who says I haven't done that?"
"I'm dating a psychopath now. Great."
"Hey, they had me tested, I'm fine."
"Yeah, when you're on your meds."
We both laughed.
"We should probably get back" I looked over at him.
"I know, I'd rather stay with you all night."
"I would too."
I got up and brushed off my legs. Michael slowly stood up and grabbed my waist. He pulled me close and I wrapped him arms around his neck and we kissed. We pulled apart and I saw something in Michael. I don't know if it was love, lust, or both. He gave a small smile and pulled me in again. He sure knew how to make my heart race, that's for sure. After a minute or two of making out we went back to camp. I don't know if that was the best idea or not.
"Where the hell have you two been?" Dylan said standing up from the sofa in the main lobby. Everyone was down there, they didn't look to happy.
"Where's Mckayla?" Michael asked.
"Upstairs asleep, answer your father." provoked Hazel.
"We spent the day together. Is that a problem?"
"Yeah, we had no idea if something had happened to you!" Dylan raised his voice.
"Calm the fuck down, I can take care of myself. She can too."
"What were you two doing?"
Ew, gross. Hell to the no.
"We spent the day together, we never get left alone."
"There's a reason for that." Vince added,"I remember what I did when I was your guy's age."
"Ew stop. I'm not that girl and even if Michael was, he wouldn't have gotten anywhere. Can we all calm down and talk about it instead of pickering." That was more meant to Michael and Dylan.
"So what, now you're on their side?"
"No, I'm saying we can talk it through. Me and you did nothing wrong. With the way you're reacting, it seems like we were."
"Fine," Michael took a deep breath, "I am calm. Now, me and Katy did nothing wrong. We just spent the day together like boyfriend and girlfriend would do. We can hardly ever get away and spend time together alone without one of you guys nosing your way in."
"I just wanted you two to be safe, I'm not ready to lose another person."
We talked about it a little more and of course we had the sex talk. That didn't really bother me, what did was Michael and Dylan. When everyone parted ways, Michael and Dylan had a little conversation with themselves. It didn't turn out the best. Everyone heard the yelling and Michael slept with me that night. He was no where at ease, but he was a lot calmer when he slept so it didn't strain me....at the time.
