Why is it that I've never seen a Bluebird
Streaking down the sapphire sky?
All the birds around
Are either red or brown
No blinding Bluebirds to be found
Why is it that I've never seen a Bluebird
A hope a joy a start?
A start of spring
An end of spring
Come to only to hear a Bluebird sing
Why is it that I've never seen a Bluebird
Who's been o'er the rainbow and beyond?
A bird who's flown to Oz and Wonderland
And back again
All to see life from where I stand
Why is it that I've never seen a Bluebird
An ambassador of death?
Who will sing with me through my final song
Tell me it won't be long
Until I can prove a Bluebird wrong.
