*Katie's POV.*
Once Norrie and Joe woke up. Carolyn and Alice drove them straight to the clinic. I stayed for a little while but afterwards they said I should probably head home.
I have no idea what is going on. Both of them having the same seizure at the same time. And what was with that vision? Does this mean I'm gonna die? All of this is running through my head at once. So the minute I get home I go up to my room and sleep. But it isn't as peaceful as I had hoped. I keep seeing the vision over and over again. I don't think I'm getting out if here alive.
*In the morning.*
I wake up remembering the strange events of yesterday.
I try to put it out of my mind. Then I hear shouting from outside. I look out my my window to see at least half the town crowded around the dome. I quickly get dressed and go outside. People are throwing things at and spay painting the dome. I see Barbie.
"Barbie, what is going on?" I ask. "Military is leaving." He says. I notice Linda trying to calm people down but it doesn't really work so Big Jim takes over.
"Alright, alright, alright!" He starts. "We all want to know when this thing is coming down but this is not helping." He says.
"The government has left us here to rot" Ollie Dinsmore chimes in. "You're a councilman Rennie. Why should we trust you?" He asks. "Because they're out there Ollie and I'm in here. Now everyone go on home." He tells them they all begin to leave. Jim goes over to talk to Linda and she just collapses out of the blue."Linda?" I call as Barbie and I run over to her. "Are you OK?" I ask her, she doesn't respond.
"Let's get her to the clinic." Barbie says. "Jim what happened to her?" I ask. "I don't know. But I intend to find out. You just stay out of trouble." He says. He gets in the car and leaves with Barbie and Linda.
This is all so weird. First Norrie and Joe are seizing at the same time and saying "The Pink stars are falling in lines", then I get a vision of myself dying. And now Linda collapses for no reason. What the hell is going on?I decided to take a walk and try to clear my head. As I walk I begin to get a headache. But not like the ones I usually have.
I see Junior in his driveway. I hesitate before walking up to him. Last time we talked it was kind of awkward. But he was my best friend at one point. Why not?
"Hey," I say simply, walking up to him. "Oh Katie, um hi," he says. "What are you doing here?" He asks. "I was just out on a walk. Look Junior, I know we kind got off on the wrong foot the other day but I was hoping we could maybe move past that." I say. He gives me a small smile. "Yeah, I'd like that." He says. Then I notice the bloody cloth rapped around his left hand. "What happened to your hand?" I ask grabbing his it. "Oh, I was, uh, chopping wood. Axe slipped." He says. "Looks pretty bad. You might wanna head to the clinic." I say. But apone further examination I notice his nucleus are brused. "That's not from an axe." I say. He goes to pull his hand away but I don't let go. He sighs. "I went down through the cement factory tunnels, trying to find a way out." He says. "And did you?" I ask hopefully. "Would I be standing here if I did?" He asks. "I just stood there and beat on the dome till the lights went out." He says looking extremely disappointed in himself.
"A man stands up. A man doesn't screw up." He says. Big Jim always used to say that to him. It really annoyed me."You didn't screw up Juni." I say taking a chance with the nickname. He doesn't say anything. "You didn't know the Dome would cut through the cement factory. It's not like it's your fault." I tell him. "And if anyone knows about screwing up it's me." I say remembering what happened with Randolph.
"Oh yeah, you going after Paul Randolph on your own. That is a major screw up." He says. "Oh, you heard about that?" "Katie, the whole town heard about it." He chuckles.
"I um, I wanted to say I'm sorry." He says. "For just abandoning you when your mom died." He adds. "It's alright," I say. "No it's not." You were there for me when my mom died. I shouldn't have done that." He says apologetically.
"Juni I f-" I stop mid sentence because I notice a bruse on his face. "Did you bang your head against the Dome too?" I ask. I pull down the hood of his sweater. "No Katie I'm fine just..." He trails off. "Oh my god." I say touching the side of his face. It's all beaten up. He looks horrible. "Who did this to you?" I demand. "No one it's nothing." He says pulling away.
I don't let him move. "It's OK, you can trust me." I tell him. He doesn't respond. "Juni, tell me." I say looking into his eyes."..Just this guy, his names Barbie. He just randomly came up and attacked me." He says. "Wait, Barbie did this to you?" I ask shocked. I thought Barbie was a nice guy, a little off, but nice.
"Yeah- wait, you know him?" He asks. "Yeah I know him. He saved me and Joe McAlister when the Dome came down." I tell him. "Why would Barbie attac-" I trail off as the headache comes back. I stumble a little as Juni grabs my hands. "Hey, are you OK?" He asks.
"Yeah I'm good. It's just a headache." I say. "That's very reassuring given your past history with headaches." He says sarcastically. "I'm fine. Trust me." I say, but it's not true. I begin to feel light headed. Wobbling, I almost fall. Junior catches me. "Woah, easy, I gotcha." He says. I try to regain my balance. "I'm okay Juni" I mumble untruthfully. Feeling like I might pass out.
"No your not. Come on your coming the clinic with me." He says. "But I not sick." I say. "Yes, you are. Here, put your arm around me." he says. I try to stay awake. Things begin to go fuzzy as we walk. "Juni where's Angie?" I ask out of the blue. He takes a long time to answer.
"You don't need to worry about that right now." He says as we keep walking. I get another vision. I see a bunch of pink stars falling from the sky. Just like Joe and Norrie said.
"Juni," I say. "Yeah Katie-Kat?" He asks. Katie-Kat was his nickname for me because of how much I love cats. It's been so long since he call me that. It was a good feeling.
"You used my nickname." I say with a giggle. "Yep, I did." He says. I am able to stand normally for a minute. "Juni, the pink stars are falling." I say. Then everything goes black.
*Junior's POV.*
"Juni where's Angie?" Katie asks. I tell her she shouldn't worry about Angie right now. We keep walking. Well, I walk she just kind of wobbles along. Great, now her and Angie are sick.
"Juni," She says. "Yeah Katie-Kat?" I ask using the nickname I gave when she was four. "You used my nickname." She says happily. "Yep, I did." I say. She regains her balance. So I let go. She just stares off into space for a couple seconds. "Katie? You OK?" I ask her. "Juni the pink stars are falling." She says.
What the hell? My mom drew a picture shortly before she died. Of me standing in a field with a bunch of pink stars falling around me. How did she know about that? I wonder. Katie falls and I catch her. "Katie? Katie are you alright?" I ask frantic. She is out cold. "It's OK Katie. I'm gonna make sure your alright." I say picking her up bridal style.
I look back at my bomb shelter. Should I leave Angie here alone?" I wonder. Well, Ang should be OK for a few hours. I think. I walk as fast as I can to the clinic. An unconscious Katie in my arms. I will take a while on foot but I have to try.
That is it for the chapter. Wow two in one day. Nice. See ya tomorrow my domaniacs.
