*Katie's POV.*
Norrie, Carolyn and Alice went to stay at Joe's house. So I went home.
*The next morning.*
I headed straight to Joe's house. But stopped along the way because there are a bunch of monarch butterflies on the dome.
"Hey," I hear Joe and Norrie from behind me. "Guys check this out." I say. "Monarch butterflies aren't even in season." Joe says. "Maybe the dome sent them. Maybe it's trying to tell us that the dome is just a cocoon and when it goes away we'll all be something new." Norrie says. Wow, that's deep. I say to myself.
"You do realize that most caterpillars are are actually eaten before they turn into butterflies?" Joe says. "Dude, shut up." I say. We all laugh.
Just then Barbie comes up behind us. "What is this?" He asks. I think back to what Junior told me yesterday.
How Barbie attacked him for no reason. I'll leave it alone for now."Isn't it amazing?" Norrie asks.
She puts her hand on the dome and all the butterflies fly away. There are army guys on the other side. Norrie waves one of them. He waves back. Which is weird because they haven't talked to us for the past five days."Huh, why are these guys finally paying attention to us?" Barbie asks. "Look!" Norrie says. Tour busses start to pull in and civilians start getting out.
"Hey, it's Frank!" Joe says.
"Who?" "My cousin. He went away to college before the dome came down." He says. "The military hasn't let anyone near here. Why are they busting in the family's now?" Barbie asks."Haven't you ever been to camp?" Norrie asks. "There finally giving us our own Visitors Day."
*Later that morning.*
"Shouldn't we get Alice and Carolyn?" I ask Norrie as we head towards the 6th street bridge. "Why? It's not like any of there phoney LA friends are going to make the trip." She says.
"I'm just excited to meet your folks. Can't wait to tell them that you are shacking up with an under age girl and a couple of lesbians." We laugh.
There is police tape in front of the dome so that no one on our side can touch it. But then I see Linda duck the tape and to see her fiance Rusty. I'm a little annoyed but I keep looking through out the crowd for my aunt. No sign of her yet. Maybe she didn't come. No that's ridiculous. She'll be here.
I tell myself.I walk back to Joe and Norrie.
"Hey, any sign of your parents?" I ask Joe. "Not, yet Angie isn't here either. What about you? Your aunt here yet?" He asks. I sigh. "No, not yet." I say."What the hell?" We hear Norrie say. She runs over to the dome. "Nor? " I call after her. There is a guy holding a sign saying Norrie Calvert.
We walk up to the guy. He files the page of the note book. It says. Hello Norrie. My name is Michael. I'm your dad. I look at him then at Norrie.
"No," she says. My moms said I came from an anonymous donor." She tells the Michael. He opens up what appears to be a photo album. Inside is a bunch of baby pictures of Norrie and a picture of him and Alice. "That's your mom." Joe says.
"Norrie!" Carolyn and Alice run over to us. "We have been looking for you everywhere." Carolyn says.
"Michael?" Alice says in disbelief. "So, it's true. This guy's my dad?" Norrie asks.
"It's complicated." Carolyn says.
"No, you told me the records were sealed. That we couldn't even look for him." She says almost in tears. I know how she feels. I never knew my dad was either. And he doesn't even know I exist.
