People have always told me that when life gets rough, things get better.
But the thing is, I've realized that things don't get better. You get better.
Whatever keeps bringing you down – whether it be a bad friend, a job or the love of your life- that stuff doesn't really change. What happens is we change, and we get better on our own over time.
So when it comes to heartbreak; the birds still sing, the sun still shines and the world still spins.
We have to change ourselves to see the change in other things.
And that's something I wish I knew when I was seventeen.
