Chapter Eight - "I'm Done With This Conversation"

My lips crashed with Chase's. We didn't pull apart and I couldn't even if I wanted to. His hands were all over me as I tangled my fingers in his hair, groaning against his lips.

I felt his hands go to the button of my jeans. I giggled against his lips and continued kissing him. My hands found their way to the hem of his shirt and I started to gently tug on it.

"You know," he breathed, muttering his words on my lips.

"Hm?" I hummed.

"We could be inside in your bed and not in the backseat of my car," he chuckled.

I smirked, pulling away from his lips and tucking a stray hair behind my ear. "Well, yeah. That's true. But this is kinda hot," I said quietly.

"You're kinda hot," he smirked, pecking my lips.

"Wanna come inside?" I asked in a small voice, and he nodded with a smile. I bit my lip and fixed myself up since my hair is a little messy now, as well as my shirt.

The Fourth of July is in about a week and a half and it's Monday morning. Chase and I ran out to do some errands, and now we were back at my house, making out in the backseat of his car.

I don't know how we got from a peck on the lips in the front to a full on make out in the back, but if he didn't suggest going inside, we probably would have just done the deed right there. Which I wouldn't have minded, except for the lack of privacy.

We got out of his car as I tangled his fingers with mine and smiled. I stopped once we got to my front door and turned around to look up at him.

"So nobody's home?" He raised an eyebrow.

"Nope," I whispered, going up onto my toes and kissing him.

His hands snaked around my waist as he pulled me close to him and deepened the kiss. I fumbled for the door handle, managing to get it open seconds later. We stumbled inside, laughing at each other but not breaking our lips apart.

Out of nowhere, I heard a throat clear from somewhere behind me. I jumped off of Chase and spun around.

"Mom. Hi," I said in a high-pitched, startled voice.

She was sitting in the living room by herself in the quiet with her work clothes on. Her being home is the last thing I expected.

"Hi," she smiled at us like she didn't just see what was happening a few seconds ago.

"Hi Mrs. Radcliffe," Chase smiled and waved.

"Hi Chase," she greeted him.

"Uh, what are you doing home?" I cleared my throat, running my fingers through my hair.

"I forgot some papers for work so I stopped back home to get them. I'm going back in a few minutes," she explained.

"Oh, okay," I nodded. "Well, we'll be upstairs."

"Lindsay, can I talk to you for a second?" She said, staring down at the folder on her lap.

I sighed, glancing at Chase and giving him a look that said wait-upstairs-for-me.

"Sure," I nodded, although she's not looking at me.

Chase gave me a nod and I heard him walk upstairs, so I went into the living room and stood by the couch. "What's up?" I rocked back and forth on my heels, waiting for her to speak.
