chapter 20

Cheryls pov

I woke up to see Layla already awake, sitting up and tears rolling down her cheeks. It breaks my heart seeing her like this.

"Aww babe please stop crying" I walk over to her bed and pull into a hug.

"I can't, mam Mayas dead" she started sobbing and it broke my heart. I manage to get her calm again, she's so upset, who wouldnt be if one of their best friends just died.
"Your daddy's coming to pick us up in a bit" I said hoping to cheer her up.

She didnt say anything. A while later Tre walked through the door. He stopped in his tracks when he saw Layla silently crying. He pulled her in a hug and mouthed me what happened.

I mouthed back telling him what happened and he was shocked.

"Come on lets get to the car" Tre helped Layla into her wheelchair and I wheeled her to the car while Tre signed her out. He then helped her into the car and we drove off Layla still in tears.

They reached their house and Layla tried not to think about Maya, everytime she did she would cry.

Tre helped her into the house.

A while later Jacob and Jake came round. It being clear that Jake had been crying. Jacob gave Layla a hug and began sobbing and crying and tears rolled down Jacobs cheek.

Cheryls pov

I walked into the lounge to see Jake with his hands on his face and Layla crying and hugging Jacob who had tears in his eyes. It was heartbreaking. I walked out to the kitchen where Tre was making lunch.

"Babe, I cant bear see Layla cry again, its painful" I wiped my tears.

"I know, we need to cheer her up somehow, I feel so sorry for them, they lost a friend an all" Tre sighed.

Laylas pov

"Its her funeral on sunday" Jake said bringing me out of my daze. Its Friday today which means in two days time it'll be Mayas funeral.

We were all watching tv, trying to get our mind off Mayas death. The doorbell ranf and mam shouted for someone to get it so Jacob got up and opened it. It was Sonia.

"Hi" I greeted her and she gave me a hug and sat down with us and we watched tv. Then I paused it and we all started talking about random stuff still trying to take our mind off what happened.

"Remember when we came here at lunch, then your mum and Kimberly came and we literally had to hide till they went upstairs so we could sneak back out. Lol I was shit scared" Sonia said and Jake and Jacob laughed along.

"You what?!" I heard mam say from behind and I jumped out my skin. Fuck me how'd she get there, I thought she was still in the kitchen.

Cheryls pov

I heard what layla said. Those little terrors came here during lunch, I swear they are the sneakiest bunch ever.

Layla doesn't turn to face me but I can see Jake holding in his laugh. Layla puts the tv back on.

I walked over to them and stood infront of Layla preventing her from watching the tv.

"You guys need to explain" I sais and Layla looked at Sonia. None of them spoke up.

"I said explain"

"I weren't there" Jake said. So I turned to Jacob, Sonia and Layla.

"We only came to get my homework, I left it at home and Mrs jackson was going to give me another detention if I didnt hand it in" Layla said she fiddled with her sling.

"Yeah, sorry we scared you and Kimberly we didnt mean to" Jacob added.

"We'll speak about it later okay, lunch is ready anyways so lets go eat" I said. They followed me to the kitchen, Jacob carrying Layla.

After lunch Sonia and Jake went home and Jacob was about to leave too.

"Oh I nearly forgot, Mrs Jackson gave me some homework for Layla" Jacob said and took a huge pile of work and put it on the table.

"Wow thats a lot, thank you for bringing it though" I smiled and he kissed Layla goodbye and said bye to me and Tre and headed out.

I gave Layla her medicine, she didnt need as much as before now. I could tell she was getting sleepy so Tre took her upstairs and tucked her in.
