Chapter 15

Riker POV

"Emma, please say something! I feel like I'm about to explode!"

"I'm not... breaking up with you."

"Thank god..."

I hugged her tight. But I felt so weak and tired. This was exhausting.

I suddenly smiled and started laughing. She was mine!

"What are you laughing about?"

"You're still mine. And I can't ever lose you!" I said, wiping my face.

"Riker. We need to talk about something, though."

"What?"

"This was... exhausting to go through tonight. I don't ever want to go through this again. And if you push me to this point, I'm leaving you. I'm sorry, but I can't have all this stress like I did tonight."

"Ok. I'm sorry. I won't push you here again. I'll be the best boyfriend ever."

Emma hugged me.

"Ok... Can I go to bed now?" Emma asked.

"Yeah."

I intertwined our fingers as I walked her to Rydel's room.

When I finally sunk down into my own bed, I felt happy and scared at the same time. I was happy, obviously because I still had Emma. But I was scared I'd mess up, and lose her forever.

Days Later...

Riker POV

Emma and I were home alone tonight. Everyone went out to play ice hockey, but Emma didn't play, so I stayed home with her. I was sitting downstairs alone when I heard her scream.

"RIKER!"

Without even thinking twice, I jumped off the couch and sprinted up the stairs.

"RIKER!"

I threw Rydel's door open, and ran inside. Emma was standing on Rydel's bed.

"What's wrong!?"

"There's a giant spider!"

Oh god... I hate those things...

"Ok... Um... Where?"

"On the ground like a foot away from you!"

I jumped backwards, seeing the spider.

"I'll um... I'll go get the vacuum."

I ran to the hall closet.

"RIKER HURRY! IT'S MOVING!"

Everything was all tangled up. I couldn't get the cord untangled, and Emma was freaking out. I ran back to Rydel's room, without the vacuum.

"Riker!"

I grabbed a notebook that was on Rydel's dresser, crouched down, and slammed it on top of the spider. I then proceeded to jump up and down on the notebook, making Emma laugh at me.

"Well that's one way to take care of it... I guess..." Emma said, smiling at me.

I walked over to Emma, who was still standing on Rydel's bed.

"Thank you," Emma said, putting her hands on my shoulders.

"You owe me."

"Owe you?"

"One kiss."

Emma smiled, leaned down, and kissed me. I picked her up, and carried her downstairs to the kitchen.
