Chapter 16

Riker POV

"This is ridiculous, and crazy, and you probably won't want to do it, or won't be able to-"

"What is it?"

"I was just wondering if maybe..."

"Maybe...?"

"You would come home with me so I wouldn't have to fly alone and stuff."

"Ok, I'll go ask mom now."

"Really!?"

"Sure."

"I can't believe you're acting like this is nothing!"

"Emma, it's just a flight to your house, I'll stay there for a few days, and a flight back."

Emma got up and hugged me tight.

"You don't know how much I love you!" Emma said, sighing.

I smiled.

"Ok, I'll go ask."

I asked my mom, and she wanted to check with dad, but she was pretty much fine with it. Emma practically died of excitement.

"Make me dinner?" Emma asked, coming into my room.

"Why don't you make it?" I asked.

"I want a Riker Special."

She knew I couldn't cook, and a Riker Special was basically me throwing stuff together, in a bad attempt to make a meal. Emma always said she liked whatever I made though... Except this one time I tried making soup. I tasted it, and I knew it was pretty awful. But we ate it anyway.

I got off my bed and walked down to the kitchen with Emma.

"Let's see what happens tonight," I said, looking in cabinets for food.

"You mean dinner?"

"Yup!"

Dinner ended up being a giant ice cream sundae that we split. Not exactly dinner... It was more kind of... dessert. But dessert is close to dinner, so I figured, close enough!

I got a definite ok from my mom that I could go with Emma. Emma had talked to her mom, and we decided that our flight would be in 2 days. We would stay at Emma's for 5 days, and then we'd come back.

Emma started packing the next day. We still weren't leaving until tomorrow, but I could just see her excitement growing and growing. She really missed her family. But I was really glad she wanted me to go with her. It meant a lot. Considering our start...

"Riker?" Emma asked, pushing my door open.

"What's up?"

"I finished packing. Did you start yet?"

"Nope."

"Well you should!"

"Why? We're not leaving until tomorrow."

"Yeah, but if you don't rush, and you do it now, you have a lower risk of forgetting something."

"I'm only going to be gone for 5 days. If I forget something, it won't be a big deal."

"What if you forget underwear?"

"Ok... Well then we might have a problem..."

"Exactly! Start packing! I'll help you!"

"No! I don't want to pack yet! I'll pack later."

"Ugh! Fine."

All day, Emma was jittery. It wasn't exactly annoying, but it wasn't really enjoyable either. It was actually kind of making me a little nervous.
