Chapter 19

Riker POV

When Emma and I got to my house, we were surrounded by hugs from everyone. Emma took Rydel's hand and dragged her upstairs before even saying anything to anyone.

I was happy to be back home, but I wasn't smiling. I needed to get my girl back. And I had a plan.

Later...

Emma POV

"What if he was telling the truth, though?" Rydel asked about Riker.

"You know, Rydel, I'm honestly just so exhausted, I don't know if it's even worth it anymore. Even if he's not lying, I just... I don't know if I'm ready to be in a relationship again. It took so much out of me."

Rydel sighed.

"Well I'm going to get to the bottom of this. He might be my brother, but if he cheated on you, that's absolutely not ok, and I don't support that at all."

"Rydel, don't even bother. I'm done with him. Nothing against you, or Ross, or Ryland, or Rocky, but I just really didn't want to be here for the rest of the summer. My mom is making me, though. I don't know how I'm going to get through. Riker's just making this really unbearable."

Rydel pulled me into a tight hug.

"I'm sorry, Rydel."

"For what?"

"Coming home, and you're all happy to see me, and I'm just in a bad mood."

"Aw, Emma. It's fine. I totally understand. Don't feel bad."

I smiled.

"Thanks."

I stayed in Rydel's room the rest of the night. Riker had come to try to talk a few times. Rydel made him leave though, and I appreciated that so much. I finally went to sleep, still thinking about Riker. As much as he hurt me, and I didn't want to get back together, I was still in love with him. And that only made it hurt worse.

Riker POV

I tried to talk to Emma multiple times, but Rydel just shooed me away! I needed to talk to Emma so desperately! I felt all jittery because I was so worried I had lost her forever. I didn't even get a chance to start my plan. I was planning on bringing her along when I went to Lauren's, so she could see that nothing happened, nothing was going to happen, and only she was my girl. Not Lauren.

Middle of the night...

Emma POV

I woke up, feeling my bed moving underneath me. I opened my eyes, and realized I wasn't in bed! I was in the backseat of a car!
