Perhaps I should have just stayed in bed... but nope, me, being the dumbass I was, walked right out into the living room to see Axl and Steven trying to strangle each other.
"Guys! GUYS! Stop! Axl, don't!" I tried to say, but they didn't acknowledge me. The two of them kept hitting each other and yelling profanities.
I had no choice. I pushed Steven off of Axl just before he could throw a punch onto Axl's neck, instead his knuckles (which were adorned with knuckle busters) dug into my stomach when he turned and I groaned in response, but remained on top of Axl, my arms out to keep Steven away.
"Cassie! What are you doing?!" Steven shouted confusedly.
"I-"
"You jackass--Cass get off--" he tried pushing me off of himself, but I clung to him with my arms around his stomach, yelling "no!". "Cassie! Let go! Steven, I didn't even do anything wrong!"
"Liar! You used her! You told me! Hey--don't hit her!" Steven screamed when Axl pounded on my chest, trying and succeeding to get me off.
"FUCK YOU!" Axl boomed. "No I didn't! She loved it!" he stood up to match Steven's height and shoved him backwards.
Once Axl said this, Steven stopped dead in his tracks.
"What?!" I exclaimed.
"What?" Steven said quietly, unable to believe what Axl claimed. He looked to me, pointing angrily. The look in his eyes was enough to make my heart pound. This can't be happening. "Is this true?"
Of course it's not! Don't believe him!
I didn't say anything, still too shocked by both of them. My mouth was agape, and my eyebrows were acting like they wanted to escape my face, with how far up they were. I thought Steven was the nice one; but his other side was showing now, and I didn't like it.
"Did you?!"
"Wha--"
"She did! You remember that, don't you, Cass?" It felt like Axl was prodding me, poking me, like a lab rat. He was looking to get a certain reaction from me, and he was determined to get it. I set my jaw. "You remember how much you loved it, right?"
"I can't--"
"Fuck you!" Steven bellowed, punching Axl square in the jaw. Axl only pushed Steven roughly into the wall, thrown off by Steven's strong hit. "And fuck you, too!" he said, pointing to me again, then stomped out of the house. But as he walked past me, he shoved me hardly and I fell to the ground (because I was uncoordinated as fuck), and hit my head on the floor from the impact.
Right as Steven was storming out of my house, Izzy, Slash, and Duff showed up at the door, staring after Steven with bewildered expressions on their faces. Then they noticed Axl's jaw and me on the floor, and all ran to our aid.
"What happened?" Izzy whispered as he helped me up, embracing me. I hugged him back.
"I was just trying to help," I admitted honestly.
"Let me go you fuckers!" Axl shouted from the other side of the living room. His attempt to get Slash and Duff off of him was weak, but I still heard a couple of grunts.
"Here, Cassie," he said, guiding me down the hall and into my bedroom, "c'mere."
He sat down on my bed and scooted up against the wall. I followed without disagreement from either of us.
"How's your head?" he asked me quietly, cradling it as if it were a baby being nurtured. His fingertips were rough and calloused against the softness of my face. The contrast was surprisingly calming in a weird way.
