Jack
As I was driving to god knows where, I started thinking. Thinking about my life, my relationship and the fucked up things I've done.
I sighed as I stopped in front of a red light, rubbing my face in frustration. I know hitting Casey wasn't smart, there's only a small chance she'll forgive me, but then there's the cheating part which takes away that small chance.
That's when it kicked in,
I'm about to lose my wife and my future baby.
Taking a deep breath, I drove back to my apartment and hurriedly unlocked the front door, only to be met by complete silence. I turned on the light and walked into our bedroom, hoping I'd find Casey safely in bed.
Instead I noticed Casey's ring on my pillow, my heart breaking at the thought of her taking off her ring because of my actions.
It's all my fault.
Obviously my first reflex would be calling and texting her numerous times, but I wasn't even going to try, knowing Casey, she probably shut off her phone.
I dialled another number instead and waited for someone to pick up.
"Hello?"
I frowned at Sam's greeting, his tone was completely different from how he usually speaks.
"Hey Sam, it's me, Jack." I hesitantly spoke, not knowing whether Casey was with him or not. I would have to explain sooner or later anyway.
"Who? I don't know anyone by the name Jack, besides Jack Johnson." Sam spoke with a serious tone, confusing the shit out of me.
"Jack... Gilinsky?" I mumbled, trying to figure out what game he's trying to play with me.
"Oh yes, I vaguely remember him. It's been like 100 years though." I could clearly hear the sarcasm and annoyance in his voice. "Listen, I'm sorry I've been so off lately, but I need to know if Casey's with you or not." I figured Sam and Johnson probably hated me by now, but they're the only ones that could possibly help me solve things with Casey.
"No, why? What happened?" Sam suddenly sounded worried, but what caught me off guard was that Casey wasn't with them. Where else could she be-
Oh fuck.
Casey
"Casey?"
"Hi dad." I weakly smiled, my eyes red and puffy. My head probably looked like a tomato.
"What's wrong? Come in." My dad led me to the living room, where my step mother hugged me and made me sit down in the armchair.
"I just wanted to visit you guys." I held in all the emotions I wanted to scream out. I smiled, but that only made more tears roll off my cheek. "Oh honey," Alexandra, my stepmother, hugged me one more time, but this time she held onto me and let me cry on her shoulder.
"Do you want to tell us why you're upset?" Alexandra pulled away and stroked my hair to comfort me. I nodded and took one deep breath to pull myself together and not start crying again.
"Dad, Alexa, I- I'm pregnant." I blurted out, deciding to start from the begin. A smile formed on both my dad and Alexa's face, "That's amazing news, right?" Alexa asked hesitantly when they saw my sad expression hadn't changed.
"I thought so too, but Jack... He's changed." I managed to say it out loud without letting out a sob. I could sense my dad getting angry, knowing something must have happened.
"What did he do?" He asked with a stern tone attached to his voice. "He's been coming home late lately, we barely spend any time together and he blames it all on work. But today he came home, looking like he survived a hurricane and didn't even give me an explanation, so we started arguing..." I trailed off, hesitant about whether I should tell my dad Jack has hit me or keep it from him.
"I know that's not it, Casey. Spit it out." My dad demanded, staring right into my eyes to see if I was going to lie or not. I bit my bottom lip and looked down at my fingers to play with my ring, when I realised I had taken it off. I looked up and saw Alexa furrowing at my fingers as well, probably realising the missing ring too.
"H- he hit me." I tucked my hair behind my ear to show them my red cheek. "That son of a bitch, I'll murder his ass right now!" My dad stood up and walked around as if he was trying to find something to break.
"Dad, calm down. I'm okay. I have my stuff with me and I was wondering if I could stay with you guys for a while." I tried to act as if I was okay, but I was slowly dying inside.
"Of course you can, there's a spare bed room next to Jeffrey's." Alexa smiled as she patted my hand and stood up to calm down my dad.
"You are never going back to that asshole, understood? You're going to divorce and he'll never see the baby." My dad spoke, his face as red as mine probably.
"Dad, he's still the father of my child, we can work things out and-"
"No, Casey! He's never going to see you or the baby ever again."
