* 6 months later *
Casey
The past six months we're filled with planning the baby's arrival. I was now eight months pregnant, my belly was quite big, but I've seen bigger. We found out the gender three months ago, we're having a baby boy!
"You should call him... Jack Jr." Johnson chuckled, earning a laugh from Sammy and Jack. "Oh god no, dealing with two Jacks is enough, I don't need a third one." I joked, rolling my eyes. We had been arguing about choosing a name ever since we found out the gender.
"I really want to name him Alex." I whined, pouting at Jack, who stayed quiet this time. It seemed as if he was thinking about something, but a minute later, he started speaking, "Okay, if you want to." Jack agreed, my eyes lighting up.
"Really?" I squealed, jogging over to Jack and embracing him in the biggest hug ever. "Yes, really. You deserve to pick the name." Jack said, his breath tickling my skin. "Oh my god, I love you." I mumbled, the realisation of giving birth to a baby boy suddenly kicking in.
"I love you too, baby." Jack replied and when I pulled back from the comfortable hug, I saw Sammy with the weirdest expression on his face. Almost as if he was angry at something.
"I know this is completely random, but Sam and I were talking about this earlier... When was the last time you spoke to Nate?" Johnson asked as I looked at Jack. It's been too long, to be honest and I hadn't even realised.
"I think five or four months ago. When things we're finally getting better between us." I said, directed towards Jack. I heard Sam chuckle, but it was more like an annoyed chuckle.
"Why the sudden question?" Jack asked, furrowing his eyebrows at Johnson. "I don't know, I happened to see a picture of Nate and I in my camera roll & realised I hadn't spoken to him in a while, we used to facetime at least once a week." Johnson explained, but Sam remained quiet. Almost as if he was too afraid to say something.
"What about you, Sam?" I asked, his eyes locking with mine. He wasn't himself. I could tell, because his expression was stone cold ever since he walked into our apartment.
"What about me?" Sam responded, earning a questioning look from all three of us. "Have you heard anything from Nate?" I asked, sending him a concerned look. The look in his eyes changed as if he just switched personality.
"No... No, I haven't." He sort of mumbled as he placed his chin in the palm of his head. I could tell both Johnson and Jack noticed Sam's weirdness, but they decided not to mention anything. There was something bothering though; Sam was always closer to Nate, so if Nate really didn't contact Sam, there has to be something wrong.
"I'll try and call him later." I assured them as I kept my eyes on Sam to see his reaction. His jaw tensed up and his eyes seemed to go right through mine. I glanced at Jack who also noticed Sam's reaction, he quickly wrapped his arms around my waist and pulled me closer, the tension in the room growing even thicker.
"You know, I think Sam and I should go. We have some things to take care of." Johnson had obviously noticed the tension as well as he tried to find an excuse to leave. I nodded, smiling at him and walking over to the front door.
"I'll see you... next time." I told both of them and when Sam walked past me I couldn't help but shiver once he smirked down at me. Not a playful smirk, more like an evil one. I closed the door and returned to Jack who had an unreadable expression on his face.
"That was weird, almost scary." I shrugged, opening the fridge and grabbing the left over pie from last night. "Sam has always been weird," Jack started, "But I feel like this time, there's something seriously wrong." He finished, the look on his face making me even more concerned.
"Anyway, that's not something we should focus on. The baby's here soon and I don't know about you, but the nerves are killing me." Jack changed subjects, my mood suddenly changing. I felt a source of happiness whenever we spoke about the baby.
"Jack you'll be fine, seriously, we're in this together." I assured him, giving him a peck on the cheek, before stabbing my fork in the pie and stuffing my mouth with it. "I know, I just want to be the best dad, you know. I want my son to look up at me and tell his friends he wants to be like his dad." Jack groaned. This had to be the most adorable thing he has ever said.
"Give him a reason and he will." I smiled at the father of my son, automatically imagining the rest of our lives as parents. But, I've been through enough to know my life won't be easy all the time. I had to be alert at any moment, because right when you think everything has settled down...
Things are about to go down again.
