I'm Such a Misfit...But Isn't Everyone

Warning: this chapter will contain spoilers, if you have not read The Bane Chronicles, then I apologize, if you have then you will know what I am talking about. Also in my version of the mortal instruments Valentine didn't take blood from the teenage Warlock he killed, just pointing that out now.

I watched as my sister sat sketching a rune and frowned at the weird shape. When she was finished I raised an eyebrow" so what exactly does it do" I asked and she looked at me with smirk before holding out a stele.

" try it for yourself Rissa" she told me and I shook my head, only to have to Alec volunteer, with the help of Jace he drew the mark on his arm. We waited and when nothing happened I sighed" guess it didn't work"

Jace suggested we scare him and Alec told us he was afraid of spiders, before Clary asked Luke for a spider, making laugh. I raised my hand to make a spider appear when the doorbell rang. Luke went to answer it and my eyes widened as Mrs. lightwood, Isabelle, the Inquisitor and who I'm guessing was Mr. lightwood came into the house." oh no" I mumbled as the old hag glared at me and i glared right back at her. Alec started to tell them something but I noticed Magnus snap his fingers and we all watched as Alec collapsed. When he woke up, he looked very confused. The inquisitor stopped glaring at me before she turned to Luke, who she called Downworlder and Magnus interrupted her before thinking twice about it.

She pointed out that he had failed in keeping us in his line of sight by letting us visit our father, my eyes widened in shock.

How had she known that?

She told us that she would be taking us to Idris, to the clave. I glared at the old hag before smirking." sorry but I don't believe you have authority over me" everyone stared as I spoke up.

" you pig headed child, do you not know who you are talking to"

" oh I know who you are, I'm not an idiot but since we all know where Jace and I were last night, there is no use in hiding it." everyone looked confused now before teleported away from the house. Landing in the front yard before calling out." catch me if you can you old hag" then I made my wings appear and took to the skies. A few minutes later, I sat on the roof of our old apartment watching the people below as they went about their normal mundane day, my journal sat on my lap as I wrote. I heard a meow and turned to see pitch black cat with two different colored eyes, there was tear on it's left ear and one of it's paws was white. It came over to me and I frowned before smiling. I reached out and scratched it's ear, causing it to purr. I picked it up and it looked at me with it's blue and black eyes.

" why wouldn't someone want a sweet thing like you" I asked and blinked at me." yeah, I know how you feel, being different from everyone else is difficult." she meowed in agreement and I laughed before standing up with the cat in my arms and my journal in my hand."  we have to stick together, because if we don't, we are alone in this world" I told the cat who just blinked at me.

" come on, let's go...." I though for a second before smiling" Ardor, that's what I'll call you" I told it and it meowed happily. I opened my wings and took off, the kitten didn't get scared, instead it curled up in my arms and fell asleep. I laughed before putting Ardor in the hood of my jacket, where it slept peacefully. I landed in front of Magnus's apartment and knocked on the door. When he opened the door, he had very scary look on his face before he saw that it was me." oh, Rissa, what do you want" a meow was here and his eyes went to the kitten that poked it's head out of my hood." I was wondering if you could watch her, at least until this Valentine thing is over"

" I'm not really sure, handling two cats..."

" please Magnus, I'm sure she won't be any trouble, right Ardor" I asked and the cat meowed in response." alright but just until we deal with Valentine" I smiled and watched as the young kitten jumped off my shoulder and onto the ground. She looked up at Magnus curiously before batting at his foot for his attention which she now had. He chuckled" Ardor, that is a unique name"

" I read it somewhere, I think it means brightness" I shrugged and he picked up the kitten, who was barely the size of his hand. I followed him inside and he set the kitten down, only to have her sit down and stare at us like 'seriously'. I rolled my eyes before noticing a picture on the wall of him and a man with green skin. I went over to the picture and frowned" who's this" I asked and he smiled" a friend I travelled with, I actually had my first experience with a monkey travelling with him. We travelled all over Peru"

" wait...i thought you were banished from Peru"

" I was, but this was taken before that"

" how did you take the picture then"

" magic can do many things Marissa, even you know that" he sighed before my phone went off in my pocket. I looked to find a text from Simon, confused on why he was texting me instead of Clary i opened it.

Rissa, help, there's someone in my house

my eyes widened and I looked over at Magnus" I'll see you later" before teleporting to Simon's house. When I got there, the house was completely destroyed. I walked inside but stopped seeing an unconscious Simon." Simon" I cried and ran over to him. I shook him but he didn't move" Simon wake up" I told him before hearing footsteps near by. I looked up to see a shadowy mist and I knew what was going on before I felt something being jabbed into my neck.
