Chapter 14

I smiled watching as my mom and Luke used the rune Clary had created to help. When no one was looking I teleported to one of the nearby roofs, not liking the looks I was getting, from both the shadowhunters and the downworlders, I just belong with either. I pulled out my journal and started writing but ended up just doodling on one of the pages, I froze when I found myself drawing the angel the angel from the basement, I ripped it out and crumbled it up.

" stupid brain" I muttered before I set it alight, watching as the ashes blew away with the wind. I sighed before flipping to a new page and writing.

The girl I thought I was

over a month ago, I thought I was a just a girl with abnormal powers, or least I wanted to believe that. Last month, if you had told me I was going to meet father, I kind of would have believed it...if you had told me my brother was alive, I would have started to doubt your knowledge and sanity...if you had told me I was part Warlock, demon, Faerie and that I was an experiment created by my father, I would have given you directions to the nearest Psyche ward or just 'politely' asked you to get your brain checked, several times.

I guess a part of me knew back then that I wasn't like everyone else, that I wasn't just meant for something greater. Magnus always told me that acceptance was the key unlocking my inner power, the key to becoming a powerful warlock but....guess he was sort of right, since I didn't find that strength until my so-called father told me the truth.

Does that count as acceptance?

I sighed closing the book with a loud Snap" I really need a social life" I mumbled before Alec appeared on the street below." Rissa, are you just going to stay up there all day, or are you going to help us down here?" he called out. I got up and sighed stepping off the roof, teleporting to him. I followed him inside and he glanced over at me" Why were you out there anyway"

" it's quitter, plus everyone was giving me the stink eye in there"

He stopped and I frowned" then ignore them, they don't know who you are and what you've done Rissa"

" thanks Alec" I smiled" by the way, I thought I saw Magnus talking to Luke and mom last, I saw him anyway"

He smiled before running off to find Magnus. I stood there for a few more minutes before glancing at my reflection, noticing that the blue was starting to fade from my hair. I closed my eyes" You are not him, you are not him, you are not him" I repeated to myself over and over again but when I opened my eyes, I saw my father staring back at me.  I took a deep breath before opening my eyes, to find him gone." I'm not him" I told myself once more before going to join everyone else, only to stop when I walked passed a room similar to the library back at the institute, just with a lot, and do mean a lot, more books. I glanced in the direction of where I could hear the others before letting out a sigh." maybe just a few more minutes" I mumbled before stepping into the room only to stop when a voice said." I had a feeling I'd find you in here"

I turned and smiled seeing mom." Our entire history, from beginning until now, are all recorded here" Mom said and my eyes widened." I actually brought you here, just before we left"

I looked at the floor" I know, It's foggy but I do remember, you told me not to wander off and make sure Clary didn't bother anyone, or get us caught"

" how much do you remember Rissa" She asked and I sighed" I remember when ever he was around, I would just get this feeling that he would hurt me"

" Knew you were a smart kid" A voice said and we looked to see Luke." though you did mature faster then Clary did"

" Mature? you realize who your talking to, right?" I asked and He laughed" come on, the others are waiting"

I sighed before following them to the hall, where I was tackled by Clary, who held out a stele, raising an eyebrow." come on Rissa"

I shook my head causing her to frown" I'm not sure anyone would be able to handle it" I shrugged and she raised an eyebrow before crossing her arms." then share it with me"

I sighed" fine, but if something goes wrong, don't come crying to me" I told her and she smiled as I held out my hand." word of warning little sister, keep your emotions in check" I told her as she drew the rune." anger and frustration leads to fire, if you get to upset or worried you'll start teleporting randomly" I explained and her eyes widened." don't panic, that just makes it worse" I told her remembering the guy I had killed when I had first used my magic." people will get hurt"

I quickly snapped out of it, as she handed me the stele. I finished the rune and her eyes widened" wow" she mumbled snapping her fingers and creating a small flame." How are you used to this?" she asked and I shook my head, giving her the stele back.

" I'm not" I smiled before showing her how to put out the flame, before she set someone on fire.
