Chapter OneAurora's POV
I walked through the large house I would now have to learn to call mine. It was almost like a palace, 8 bedrooms on every floor. Thanks to our parent's riches we, have had the luxury.
We could have lived in an apartment and used the money for important stuff but our parents left this house stocked with food, protection, and furniture in their will.
I looked at my older brother, Jonathan, who gave me an 'I know sis, I'm sorry we had to move, it'll be better now' look, I nodded and gave him a slight smile. Our parents were killed 2 years ago and we lived with our abusive aunt until about 2 weeks ago when Johnathan turned 21 and became my legal guardian.
I sighed and jogged up the stairs to my new room that was empty besides the boxes stacked along the walls and my bed thanks to the movers. I sighed for what seemed like the thousandth time today and sat down on my bed, unpacking my clothes from boxes.
I took this opportunity to Facetime my best friend, Olivia. I complained to her about everything. Moving again, leaving her, all the homework I wasn't doing. "You're gonna be fine! You always are! Look! Who am I? Boohoo! I have a giant house and an opportunity to meet new hot boys! I'm you!" We laughed at her charades and air-kissed exaggeratedly as we said our goodbyes.
I took school online and had about 4 essays due by tomorrow. I pursed my lips and hung up the few clothes I had unpacked before going over to my bed, opening my Mac Book and opening a new document.
The history of the 18th century consisted of...
I stopped typing and stood up from my bed, walking downstairs, it was 10 A.M when we first got to the house and it was now 8:43 P.M. Between unpacking and typing up 4 ten thousand word essays, I suppose time really does fly. I decided I should let my wolf free, she doesn't get out much and I promised her and myself that I would do better on working on us once we moved. She whimpered and I decided one run wouldn't hurt.
I jogged down the stairs and walked into the kitchen to meet my brother and 2 other men who I had never seen before. I smiled and waved politely, weaving through the tall men to get a water bottle from the fridge and an apple from the counter. "Aurora, this is Alpha Ashton and his Beta, Jake."
I nodded politely, giving a very slight wave, turning to my brother and speaking "I'm going out for a run." I stood up on my tippy toes and pecked his cheek. He nodded and I quickly stalked to the back door but before I could leave I heard chairs shuffling behind me.
"Could we go with, maybe? I need to stretch my wolf too." I heard a deep voice ask. The voice was deep and powerful, causing me to freeze immediately. I mentally groaned and rolled my eyes.
I stopped in my tracks and spun around on my heels looking at the man who had been introduced as the Alpha. I wanted to be alone for now, I'm not really feeling being around 2 strangers right now. "I would prefer if I was alone," I said politely.
"Don't be silly! Come on, we won't even bother you." My brother said with a hint of begging in his eyes. I understood immediately that he probably wanted to make a good first impression on these men. "No problem at all," I mumbled, still slightly annoyed I couldn't be alone. I walked out the back door and jogged behind a tree, stripping and putting my clothes on a nearby tree stump.
I allowed my bones to shift and my body to change and I leaped out from behind the tree in my wolf form, shaking out my fur and stretching my legs out in joy, it had been weeks since I last got to shift.
3 more wolves joined me, I recognized one as my brother. A fairly large golden and brown wolf who's name was Adonis. My wolf was pretty small with golden fur and a white spot over her eye along with white stripes down my legs. My wolf's name was Amythest. One of the unfamiliar wolves was large, his fur was mostly black and he was about 6x my size.
I assumed he was the alpha due to the matching eyes from his human form, he had emerald green eyes that looked hard and unforgiving. Leaving the last wolf for his pretty adorable beta who had dirty blonde fur and bright ocean blue eyes.
We stopped at the river that was nearby for a drink and we just laid around for a while. I got bored and decided to irritate my brother by crawling on top of his large wolf and biting on his ear, tugging and nipping at his fur with my teeth. It didn't hurt him, only annoy him.
He whined and kicked me off with all of his paws. I whined playfully shook the dirt out of my fur. I couldn't help but notice that the alpha refused to take his eyes off me, even as I went to harass my brother, I began to feel physically uncomfortable. I hate being watched, it makes me anxious.
I walked around a bit, exploring the new territory, I heard a twig snap behind me causing my head to whip around, I calmed down when I saw it was only the beta from before, Jake. I smiled politely at him and he smiled back.
He walked towards me and laid a shirt in front of me, signaling he wanted me to put it on. I went behind a tree and shifted back to my human form and slipped on the large shirt that engulfed my small body. I walked from behind the tree to see Jake with basketball shorts on. He looked at me and chuckled a bit, "What's funny?" I asked, not amused. "It's just that...you look better in my clothes than I do." He responded grinning.
For the next hour or so I and Jake walked the forest and we just spoke to each other and laughed. I learned that Jake is the beta, he is 20 years old, he's a huge goofball, and he's fun to be around. I can tell that me and Jake are going to be good friends.
It wasn't long into us talking when my brother mind-linked me asking where I and Jake had gone, it seemed somewhat panicked, I responded quickly and he told me to come back.
Jake and I shifted a made our way back to the river where we had been laying at about an hour or so. There lay my brother in the dirt while the alpha paced back and forth, almost as if he was anxious.
"Let's walk back. I want to get to know the new members of my pack." said the Alpha, looking at me with his cold eyes. I assumed this is why they wanted us to come back and I nodded and climbed the hill that they stood on, walking behind them.
"I heard you were the beta at your old community, right?" asked the alpha. My brother nodded. "Yes, sir." Ashton nodded as if he was in deep thought. I zoned out as they spoke about alpha business and such and focused on the footsteps of my wolf's paws.
"So... What happened to your parents?"
