"You gotta be quicker than that!" I squealed as I bolted down the stairs, nearly tumbling over my own feet. "Ah!" I yelled as I tripped and braced myself for impact with the floor. But the floor never came. "Are you okay?" Ashton asked with a smirk as he held me a few inches off the floor where I fell. I giggled dumbly and kissed his lips, sending jolts through my body. He lifted me up and kissed back intently. I wrapped my legs around his waist as I draped my arms over his shoulders comfortably.

After our cabin date, we ate cherry cheesecake that Ashton made and finished talking. I told him about my family and then he drove us back to the village around dusk. It was so romantic and literally the perfect date. I smiled as the thought reappeared in my brain and my beautiful boy pulled away from our kiss. He dropped his hands from my thighs and now rested them on my waist lazily. I kept my legs tightly wrapped around his torso, kissing his face repeatedly. He grinned and kissed my lips again.

"Get a room you two!" Liv called from the kitchen. I finally released my grip as Ashton leaned down so my feet could touch the floor. I peeked around the corner to see Liv with a cup of coffee and Jon standing between her legs. "Awe! You guys are the perfect pair... for the second cutest couple in the village!" Liv gasped as I struck a confident hands on my hips pose. Jon and Ashton made eye contact and then raised their eyebrows.

"Second cutest?! We are totes the cutest!" Liv argued. I shook my head and brushed my hair behind my ears. "No way! I pull rank!" I sent her a kiss and she scoffed, both of us erupting in laughter. "What are we doing today?" I asked lazily, wrapping my arms around Ashton's waist as he poured his coffee and my orange juice. I picked and ate some sliced and peeled fruit from Liv's plate. "Let's go clubbing tonight!" Livvy said, throwing her arms into the air. "Yes! Please?!" I begged.

In wold cities, the legal drinking age was sixteen because that's the peak maturity of a werewolf. "No," Ashton said, sipping his black coffee after. I furrowed my eyebrows and looked at him disgustedly. What I learned about Ashton and me's relationship is that we almost never fought naturally, but between our age gap and opposing personalities, I know it's bound to happen.

"Why not, Ashton?" I hissed, sitting down the glass of orange juice he handed me. "Alpha Ashton," He said lowly, his voice changing slowly from the way he talks to me to his alpha voice. "Wow, I forgot I have to do something somewhere else," Liv said, awkwardly sliding herself of the counter and out of the kitchen with her cup of coffee still in her hands. "I'm going to go help her with her thing," Jon said, following behind her quickly.

I rolled my eyes at Ashton's ridiculous statement. "Why can't I go clubbing tonight?" I spat, crossing my arms. Ashton sighed and sat down his coffee, facing me now rather than the marble wall. "It just isn't safe for you to be out yet. I'm not finished interrogating the man who tried to take you. We just don't have answers and it's too risky. Sorry, but no," He spoke firmly, looking down at me.

I furrowed my eyebrows angrily, shaking my head and walking past him, shoulder checking him on the way out. I hate having to stay in the village all day. I can't even go into the forest due to something that isn't even my fault.

Ashton's POV

I watched as she stomped up the stairs, giving a faint smile. She was so damn cute, even when she was mad. That shoulder check would have driven me mad two months ago, but not now. I understood that my mate was younger and didn't understand respect as well as she should. I would teach her gradually and she would teach me everything in between. I took a deep breath and sipped my black coffee.

I walked out of Aurora and Jon's house and started walking towards the prison on site. I zippered my jacket up, sliding the hood over my head. Once I arrived at the prison, I slid my hood off and walked through the guards as they nodded their heads at me. I walked through the empty courtyard and went through the layers of the gates. I glanced at the barbed wire and admired its structure.

Finally, I entered the actual prison and stalked down the long hallways until I sat in front of the cell that held the piece of shit that tried to take my mate. The skinny man sat with his back against the back of his cell. "Are you ready to talk? Or are you going to die for people who haven't even come to see if you're alive?" I stated, kneeling in front of his cage.

"What do you want to know?" He grinned now, tilting his head. The malnourishment seemed to be catching up with him now. "What is the plan? What are you trying to do to her? To my village?" I hissed at him, glaring into his eyes.

"Look at you! With your gorgeous little village with these peasants who worship the ground that you walk on," He scooted closer to the bars of the cell now, lowering his voice. "You think you're all that, huh? And now you have that cute little mate. God, what a looker she is. I couldn't wait to ravage her-" Before he could finish the statement, I had a fist full of his shirt and had him pinned against the bars. "I'll ask again. What do you want?" I hissed through seethed teeth.

"You're just like your father," He whined pathetically. I rolled my eyes, dropping his shirt. "We're going to let you die. Cold and alone," I said, shaking my head as I walked down the hallway. "They're going to get her. It isn't about you anymore," he screamed as I slammed the door to his hallway.

I sighed and rubbed my temples, sitting on the stairs in front of the hallway. I shook my head as I thought about anyone touching my mate or harming her causing a shiver to send through my body. I stood up, immediately wanting to get back to my mate and thinking of a middle ground.

As I walked back through the prison grounds and across the village back to Aurora's house, my mind fixated on her flowing hair and bright green eyes. Her smile and the way her lips felt against mine. The way her thighs squeezed when she saw me and the way she hoped I didn't notice. I thought about the way her eyes begged me to do what she wanted and the way it usually worked. My personal favorite? The way her nose scrunched up when she laughed. It was the cutest shit I had ever seen.

I stopped at a local store and bought Aurora her favorite flowers, daisies, and walked through their driveway. I walked into the unlocked door and jogged upstairs and knocked on her door. "Who is it?!" She called out soon after. "Open the door for me, angel," I spoke gently, smiling slightly at the nickname she loved so much. There was a pause like she was considering it and suddenly the door swung open, my precious mate standing at 5 feet, looking up at me.

I bit my lip and revealed the flowers from behind my back, offering them to her. Her eyes weakened up but her arms remained crossed as she stood in her doorway, guarding me against moving forward. I leaned down and kissed her cheek, pulling away and smiling at her dumbly. I couldn't believe how happy this little fucker made me.

"Well don't just stand there! Go get ready! We have to go shopping for your outfit at the club tonight!" I exclaimed, sitting up straight now. "Oh Ashy! Thank you! Thank you!" she giggled hysterically, leaping onto my body, tying her legs around my waist and hugging my torso tightly. I couldn't help but smile now as I cupped her cheeks and gave her a firm peck. She wrapped her arm around my neck now as I held her by her thighs, walking into her bedroom and sitting on her bed now.

She straddled my lap and pulled away from my neck now, looking me in my eyes. "I promise I'll be safe," She whispered, looking into my eyes. I nodded, sliding a piece of her hair behind her ear. "I know, angel," I responded, sliding my hands up her thighs now.

"Go get ready now,  we have a long night ahead of us. I'll wait downstairs," I told her, sliding her off my lap and onto her bed. I stood up and adjusted my pants so she won't see my excitement. I started walking towards her bedroom door when she whispered a faint, "Wait-". I spun around, looking at her sit on her knees on her bed where I left her. She nibbled at her lip and brushed a piece of hair behind her ear.

"I want you to stay," She spoke, giving me those eyes. Damn, those eyes.
