Aurora's POV

I fluttered my eyes open to scan a large pink room that was unfamiliar to me. I pulled my outstretched arms towards me to rub my eyes when I realized my wrist was cuffed to the bedpost. I immediately began to panic due to the foreign environment and restraints. The cold metal pressed against my wrists causing me to wince.

"Hello?!" I called out, pulling my legs towards my right wrist which was forcing me to stay on the bed. "Help me!" I called out pathetically, feeling weaker with every move. Suddenly the door swung open and a man that looks eerily like my mate walks in. "Hello, Aurora" The man spoke, pulling a chair up to next to the bed and sitting on it backward. I stared at the man with pure horror and bewilderment.

He gave a sly smile and then opened his mouth again. "I know what you're thinking. Why am I doing this? Am I going to hurt you? What happens next?" He spoke deeply and precisely, running his thumb over his lips as the words glided out. I couldn't help but study his face as he had a striking resemblance to Ashton. I nodded cautiously, unsure of what to say.

"My name is Jax Lakewood and Ashton is my twin brother," He began speaking,  standing from his chair and slowly pacing the room now. I parted my lips, never hearing of another Lakewood besides Ashton. "I abandoned my home, pack, and village at the tender age of sixteen. My father's views were never right for the community. He could never be a leader because he was a coward. He beat on our mother and on Ashton and me. After Ashton killed our father, he wouldn't accept my challenge. I wanted that Alpha position. I would have been 10x the alpha he is. Ashton is a coward, just like our father. I have alpha blood just like he does. I joined a group of rogues who understood me. Who appreciated my skills as a natural leader. I have my own community now with citizens who respect me. As for your mate... That's all he will ever be. A coward" He spat the last statement, venom dripping from every word.

"I've been plotting my attack on Ashton for years but then I decided, I want more than his pathetic pack. I want the one thing he can never get back,"

He paused now and looked me up and down causing me to swallow the lump in my throat. "You're the only thing he had that I didn't," He ran his thumb over his lip and sucked his teeth as his eyes glazed over like he zoned out.

His words caused me to shake. Surely Ashton would rescue me and I would get to be with my mate. My brother would save me. I would get out any minute now. "Unless... He's willing to make an exchange..." Jax locked eyes with me now, tilting my chin up to look at him. Tears pooled my eyes and I gasped, scared of his touch. "Don't worry. I won't be spoiling the ending, princess. You get to see it all play out," He whispered, dropping my chin from his finger. I whimpered audibly this time, fear filling my body. The man had dark eyes that lacked remorse.

He went and sat back in his chair that he began in, pulling a phone from his pocket and remaining silent for a while. Finally, he put the phone on speaker, allowing it to ring. I locked eyes with the man who was staring into my soul. "You say a word and I will murder you with my bare hands. Understand?" He said coldly. I gulped down the lump in my throat that begged to erupt so I could cry and nodded.

Finally, whoever was on the other end picked up the phone. "Hello?" Ashton's voice rang through the phone. His voice sounded exhausted and stressed. My wolf begged me to scream his name. To let him know that I was alive and loved him. My brain reminded me of the times I was around my mate. How much I missed his touch. "Ashton. Long time no talk," Jax said with a smirk. There was a brief moment of shuffling on the other end before Ashton spoke again "What the hell did you do, Jax?" Ashton growled into the phone.

"Seems like we have a lot to talk about, huh? I want you to listen real good to me, Ashton. I don't have time for any of your infamous fuck-ups. You and your beta are going to meet me at the designated coordinates that I send you. You bring the guard, the girl dies. You don't meet me, the girl dies. If you disobey me in any way, the girl dies. Do you understand?" He spoke clearly. Ashton paused now. My heart broke into pieces hearing my powerful mate sound so powerless. Fear was now a common emotion to me as my execution was casually discussed.

"Jax, I don't know what you're trying to accomplish here, but-" Ashton started. I could hear the desperation in his voice. "Do you understand, Ashton? Yes or no?" Jax's voice boomed through the room, exerting dominance towards all who listened. Ashton paused again. "Yes. I understand," Ashton said, sounding defeated. Tears streamed from my eyes as I stared coldly at Jax who hadn't allowed a single drop of emotion to shine through.

He hung up the phone and sent some texts which I knew from hearing the text tone. He then stood up and walked out of the room, closing the door behind him and leaving me cold and alone in the room once again. I heard shuffling outside of my door and a younger woman walked in now, with a large basket. A man accompanied her and stood in the corner. She waved politely at me and sat beside my bed on a rocking chair. She unchained my arms and explained to me that if I tried to run, things would only get worse for me. I nodded and turned to the side to let the woman brush my hair as she instructed.

"I'm Jessa. I work as a woman's maid around. I usually take care of new mothers or mothers to be. I'm basically just here to get you all cleaned up and whatnot. I've been taking care of you while you were asleep. It is nice to finally meet you," I nodded quietly and did as she said, rubbing my wrists where they were previously cuffed. "How long have I been asleep?" I asked, my own voice unfamiliar to me.

"Oh, dear... Its been about 2 weeks I would say," My heart sunk at the idea of me being away for that long. I was under the impression that I was only gone for a few days. "My alpha has requested and overseen that you remained sedated," She continued. My body felt numb and I stayed silent while she finished cleaning my body and my hair. Once she finished, she mumbled a goodbye and left the room, the man in the corner following her out.

I looked through the window to see that it was now dark. The restraints on my wrists were not put back on by Jess so I contemplated making my escape. I draped my legs over the side of the bed quietly, scooting to get as close to the edge as possible. I slid off the bed but the moment my feet touched the ground, my legs became unsteady and pained. I let out a scream of pain as my body hit the floor. I winced at the pain in my legs and my now bruised legs. A minute passed and my door flew open. Fear filled my body as I looked up to see Jax standing over my frail body. He grabbed my arm and lifted me back onto the bed, remaining silent. I cringed away from him but did not offer a fight.

"Trying to escape?" He offered the words as stood in front of me, his hands clasped together in front of his torso. I shook my head silently, afraid of what would happen if I spoke or told the truth. He nodded contently, not seeming to care much about my answer either way. "When you haven't walked in weeks, your legs forget how to do so," I heard rustling down the hallway of my already opened door. Jax now faced the open window that was in the room. The man from before entered the room with a wheelchair now.

"It's time, Aurora. Don't resist. You will regret it," Jax said before exiting the room briskly. I frowned at his words and the man lifted me into the wheelchair, strolling me out of the room and through the unfamiliar mansion that I was being held hostage in. We passed many rooms and took the elevator down three floors, finally arriving at the ground level. I was rolled through a large, open living room and marble kitchen. Had my situation been different, I would have mistaken this place for a nice home.

After exiting, a black SUV awaited me. The man lifted me into the SUV and closed the door behind me. A few silent minutes pass and the driver slides up the window to separate himself from me. The leather seats feel uncomfortable and cold against my thighs. The door on the other side of the SUV opens and Jax enters, sitting on the other side of me and telling the driver to go. He instructs me to give him my wrists and I listen, terrified of the man who was controlling everything. He locks cold black handcuffs around my wrist and blindfolds me. He instructs me to say nothing unless he tells me otherwise.

He tells me to brace myself for the worst because he is about to raise hell.
