Well first off, an apology is in order since an update hasn't gone up in a while. There's a reason though, it wasn't just pure laziness. My family was actually in the process of moving and we just got settled so here's a new chapter. Sorry again!

"Newt what's wrong?" I questioned him again. He scratched the back of his neck quickly before turning to face me with a fierce urgency. He spun his head in all directions and then spoke.

"We're never going to get out of here."

"What are you talking about Newt, aren't the Runners looking for a exit now?"

"Yes they are, but that's just it. They're looking for something they'll never find. I've run every inch of that maze, and so has Minho. Hope can be worse than real danger sometimes. There is no way out!" He was very fired up now, and was getting all in my face.

"So what now? Are we just surviving then? Waiting until we run out of food or that Box stops bringing supplies?" I almost shouted. Newt shushed me quickly while looking around to see if anyone had heard me.

"We're going to keep running, and farming, and surviving. We won't give up though, who knows, maybe something will change and we'll get out of here." He drawled before leaning against the log again.

"You're right. We can't be so down about something that might not even happen." I jumped to my feet and held my hand out towards him.

"So, let's go make the most of the present." He smiled and grabbed my hand. I pulled him up and we jogged off towards the festivities.

-6 months later-

I awoke to the sound of the Greenie alarm blaring across the Glade once again, causing me to roll over and groan into my pillow. I rolled directly into a warm lump, which groaned as well. I laughed and crawled on top of Newt, sitting on his stomach.

"Get off." He growled in his deep morning voice.

"Only when you get up!" I sing-songed as I jumped off him and ran to the Kitchens for some breakfast.

"Sup Fry." I yawned as I made my way to the counter.

"Morning!" He greeted me with a large grin and some pancakes. My eyes lit up at the heavenly scent.

"Yesssssssss thank you so much!" I made my way to a picnic table and watched the boys crowd around the Box Hole as I ate. Once I was finished I joined them there, squeezing my way to the front. Newt and Alby appeared, ready to yank the doors open. The alarm stopped and the clang of the Box hitting the top rang out. Alby gave Newt a nod and they each grabbed a handle. We all leaned in close to catch a glimpse of the new Greenie, and once I did my breath almost stopped. He was BEAUTIFUL. The boy, who looked about 15 years old, squinted at the suddenly bright light and looked around him. He was seemingly tall, probably around 5'10, and was lean, but muscular with green eyes and floppy brown hair. He stood tall with his head high, but I could see that he was scared, and confused. The boys threw a rope down to him, and he cautiously grabbed it, letting them pull him up. Once he was on his feet again, Alby approached slowly, followed by Newt. The boy backed up a bit, but was forced to stay in place, thanks to the crowd around him. I quickly ran to Newt's side, hiding behind him a little.

"Welcome. I'm Alby, and this is the Glade. Your new home." Alby gave his regular speech, but I tuned him out, just staring at the new arrival. He was SO CUTE. He suddenly looked at me, giving me a small smile. We just continued staring at each other while Alby droned on and on. Newt noticed and puffed his chest out a bit, staring the poor guy down now. I rolled my eyes and put my hands on my hips, causing the boy to laugh.

"Now, who wants to give the Greenie a tour?" Asked Alby to the crowd. Everyone turned away slightly, slowly walking away.

"I'll do it." I stepped out in front of Newt, who had an incredulous look on his face. He moved towards me, but I gave him a look. He backed off and followed Alby back towards the Homestead.

"Hi. I'm Kayla, the girl here." I smiled and stuck my hand out. He shook it and grinned.

"I'm Jake."
