"Okay Gladers, listen up!" Screeched Alby from the Homestead porch. Everyone turned from their work to look at him, confused by the sudden outburst.
"Tonight we're having an inventory taken, so everyone is being let off early. No, it's not for your own pleasure, it's so you shanks are all out of the way, alright? Everyone's done at lunch." Alby ducked back into the creaky building as small cheers erupted from some of the more rowdy boys. I turned to Jake with a grin on my face.
"I know what we should do tonight!" I whispered, looking around us quickly to make sure no one was listening. He leaned in closer and motioned for me to go on.
"It's sort of an initiation kind of thing I guess, but we're gonna prank someone!" I spoke quickly, my mind spinning a million miles a minute.
"Okay, good idea, but who? I'm kind of trying to not get on anyone's bad side, since I've only been here a week." He replied, wringing his hands together a bit. I thought for a second.
"Well." I started, standing up and beginning to pace in front of him, "It can't be someone in charge, or someone who would try and get you back, or someone who would take it too seriously." He nodded along, looking around the Glade at all the potential victims.
"Oh!" I exclaimed, causing him to jump slightly.
"Who?!" He questioned eagerly. I grinned smugly.
"Frypan."

"Did you get the duct tape?" I asked. He showed the gray roll to me.
"Did you get the eggs?" I nodded and pulled them out, along with the needles I'd taken from Fry's kitchen. He started laughing already, an adorable sound with cute little snorts here and there. Not loud ones, just small ones. I giggled a bit, getting lost in his handsome green eyes. And his adorable, shaggy brown hair, the way it flopped into his eyes just a little bit.. And-
"Kayla!"
"What?" I snapped out of it quickly.
"You were really spacing there." He chuckled softly. I looked down at my toes as my cheeks burned crimson.
"It was cute, don't worry." He said nonchalantly, smiling with the corner or his mouth. I looked up at him, my face a blazing fire.
"We should uh... Get started..." I spoke quietly, breaking the moment. He nodded, crouching down next to the log on the edge of the Deadheads we were standing near.
"Here's the plan: I'll sneak into the kitchen and put the duct tape on Fry's sink, so that when he turns it on, it sprays him. While I'm doing that, you'll be pricking the eggs and draining the yolks, but only on half of them, otherwise he'll actually kill us." I giggled at the end, passing Jake the egg basket. He gave me a quick nudge before I sprinted off to the Kitchens, adrenaline pumping through my veins. I dove behind a pile of wood for the new shed they were building, waiting for two older Gladers to walk by. Once they were a good distance away, I crept out of my hiding spot, tape held snugly in my hand. I slowly pushed the wooden door to the Kitchen open, glancing all around the room to make sure it was empty. I took a deep breath, and then let the door close behind my softly. My hand was sweating around the tape roll, making it harder to pick up the edge. Once I did, I placed a small, yet secure piece of tape around the nozzle, leaving just a small section open, aimed right at whoever was using the sink. I smirked at my handy work, making a quick getaway run back to the log where Jake was waiting.
He opened his mouth to speak, but I shushed him quickly, spying Newt over his shoulder coming towards us. I couldn't tell if he had seen us or not, but I motioned for Jake to follow me, we slowly snuck farther back into the trees, attempting to hide ourselves from view from my brother. Jake ducked behind a thick tree, pulling me with him. He held me tightly to his chest, my back to his front, so neither of us could be seen. I blushed a bit, feeling the heat from his body flow over mine. I giggled a little when I realized I could feel how muscular he was through his shirt. He clapped his hand over my mouth and shhhd me in one swift movement. I shut up when I heard Newt muttering to himself.
"Eggs? What the bloody hell happened to them..." He trailed off as he limped away, the basket of our beloved prank bouncing at his side. Jake released me when we felt it was safe. I turned to face him slowly.
"What do we do now?" He asked at a normal noise level. I shrugged.
"We still have the sink thing, so I guess the egg prank will have to be done on another day." I grinned at him. We both burst out laughing, clutching our sides and rolling around in the leaves.
