" I call dibs!"

"Is she hot?"

"No way shuck face she's mine" were all called down in teenage voices. A look of disgust crossed Newt's face.

"Shut your holes klunk heads she's like 14!" he shouted in an angry tone. I could already tell that Newt and I would be good friends.

"Thanks" I told him.

" No problem. Anything for the first girl ever" he replied smoothly. First girl ever? What does that even mean? A rope made of ivy with a small loop at the end slid down into the Box.

"Hold on" says Newt as he lazily wraps an arm around my waist, slides his foot in the loop and grabs a hold of the rope. He gives it a small tug and suddenly we were moving up. Once at ground level, Newt stepped off the rope and gently placed me down next to him. A lot of boys of all races and ages were gawking at me. I didn't see a single girl. That's what Newt must have meant. This could get interesting. An African American boy of about 18 years of age pushed through the crowd of near silent boys. He slowly looked me up and down, and I instinctively crossed my arms over my chest.

" My name is Alby and this is the Glade. Your new home" he said in a practical monotone. He turned to the cluster of boys.

"Go back to work everyone. I'm calling a Gathering right now. And nobody- I mean nobody- is gonna lay a pinkie on this girl. Got it shanks?" A few murmurs of 'yes' were heard as the boys turned and walked away, but not before sneaking short glances at me over their shoulders. I finally began to notice my surroundings. I was in an enclosed field and it was very large. Walls that were hundreds of feet tall formed a perfect square around us, and there were giant openings on each side. I turned circles, circles, circles, trying to take it all in. I could hear my heartbeat in my ears and my head was spinning. I could hear Newt's soft voice trying to calm me down. I finally stopped turning, my eyes landing in one corner. It looked like a small forest. I looked back at Newt's face, his eyes filled with concern. I'm sure my features matched how I felt. Petrified. Newt placed his hand on my shoulder in an attempt to calm my nerves. I didn't even think. My body just acted. I took off in a full sprint towards the forest and scrambled up the closest tree.

Sorry kind of a short chapter but I'm tired, so. Come on I need some people to read this. TMR forever yiss.
