"Will you stay with me until I'm gone?" Michael asked Vienna.
"Of course." Vienna said, gripping onto his forearm as they curled up together on the couch.
Vienna understood his meaning of 'gone' when he asked her to stay with him. She didn't like to think that one day he'd actually be gone and out of her life forever.
Michael wanted her to be with him for his remaining days. He was told that he wouldn't be alive much longer since Michael refused to do treatment. He didn't like the pain chemotherapy put him through. The pain he was in now was enough for him.
Calum and Luke haven't been home all day. They'd been out walking around with a few of their friends that lived in the area.
Luke was jealous that Michael got to spend all day with Vienna. He was being selfish and Luke knew that he shouldn't be this way. Vienna was Michaels. That's how it was supposed to be. That's how it should be, but with him being sick and on the verge of death, it wasn't going to be that way much longer.
And it made Luke feel even worse.
"Luke and Calum," Vienna whispered. "do you they already know?" She questioned.
Michael loosened his grip on Vienna, lying the back of his head against the leather couch. "They've known since I was diagnosed." He said.
Michael didn't plan on telling them that he had been diagnosed, but they had dropped him off at the hospital and picked him up. That's the only reason why they had came to visit the two. They were concerned with why Michael wanted to see a doctor and get tested. Calum asked questions and when the word cancer was brought up, Michael froze and the two knew.
A week later, Michael received a phone call with terrible news. That was also the day he locked himself in his room and cried for hours.
Luke and Calum had called him, asking if he had gotten a call from the hospital. Michael continued crying, even on the phone, telling them he had lung cancer and would be going in for chemotherapy soon.
Calum apologized for hours, telling Michael that he would rather go through chemotherapy than have his best friend go through it. Luke kept telling Michael that he was sorry. Michael told them to stop apologizing. He wanted to be left alone and that he didn't need to hear about them wanting to take his place.
Michael didn't want them feeling sorry for him and what he's going through. They were the reason for him being diagnosed with lung cancer, so was Vienna. The doctor had told him that it was caused by cigarette smoke. He never smoked, but the three did all the time when they were around him.
Vienna quit smoking cause Michael had told her he didn't like the smell and that he didn't like the taste on her lips when they would kiss. The real reason was that the smoke was making it worse for him. He actually didn't mind the smell and he didn't mind the taste still lingering on her lips.
"Why didn't you tell me sooner?" Vienna asked, raising her voice a little. "You could have told me instead of leaving without a notice. Michael, you just packed up and left without a trace. Everything you owned was gone." She said, sitting up. "I was crying for weeks, wondering why you left me. You could have told me like you told them." Vienna said, wiping underneath her eyes.
"I wanted to tell you so fucking badly, Vienna." Michael said, raising his voice.
"Then why didn't you?" Vienna spat. She was angry with him that her best friends knew that the love of her life was dying and that it took him forever to tell her.
"Because I'm so in love with you and I knew that if I told you I would regret it. I didn't want to break you into millions of pieces, but I guess I did that when I left you." Michael whispered. He didn't want her to be angry with him. He wanted to spend the remaining time he had left to be the best time of his life.
"I'm sorry." Vienna said, turning to face an upset Michael. "I'm so sorry for everything that you've been through and that you're going through. I'm so in love with you and I'll be here until the day you leave all of us." She said, kissing his pouty lips. "I'll always love you. No matter what."
