Vienna glances at the two men standing near her, whispering to one another. She knew who they were and was surprised that they didn't say anything to her as the brunette guy made eye contact with her.
The blonde man adverted his eyes towards the ground when they met each others eye. Vienna knew that they knew who she was, so she grabbed her bag and started making her way towards the exit.
She didn't want to be near the two men that she once called her best friends. They had introduced her to Michael a few years back when they graduated high school. Vienna didn't notice Michael at first when they showed up to her graduation party, but soon greeted him when she was left alone with him.
Michael was quiet and wasn't the best at making conversation with someone he recently met, but he obviously knew who she was.
Vienna was beautiful and had many admires.
Michael being one of them.
He always knew he didn't have a chance with her since she didn't even recognize him when he showed up with the two guys he was friends with. Michael knew the two were also friends with her, but he didn't know that they were her best friends. He was jealous, but didn't say anything.
The two didn't know about him having a thing for Vienna. Michael was glad that they didn't know because if they did the two men would make fun of him and end up telling her.
Vienna was a lot different than Michael had thought though.
She knew exactly who Michael was, and was surprised that he had come to her party. Vienna spent most of her graduation party talking to Michael and asking him about his plans after the summer. He was over joyed that she knew who he was and that she actually cared about his plans.
He talked about wanting to take a break from school and travel for the summer, working at a record store for the school year until he was able to find the course he really wanted to study.
Vienna didn't mind that. She too wanted to take a break, but her parents wouldn't allow such a thing. She told him about her scholar ship to a college a few states away where she would study literature. Michael was kind of disappointed in her answer because he didn't want her to leave after finally getting to know a little about her.
"This might sound a bit strange, but would you like to come with me?" Vienna asked Michael that night after the party ended. "I have an apartment with an extra bedroom if you'd like to move in."
"Don't you want one of your best friends to move in?" Michael asked. He wanted to say yes, but was curious as to why she asked him.
"Luke and Calum don't want to live with me. They plan on moving in together with their girlfriends." She says. "I don't mind though. They're quite annoying at times." She giggled.
"They can be." Michael laughed.
"So will you?" Vienna questioned.
"Yeah. I think I will."
After two months of living with one another, they realized that it was the best decision they ever made. Michael and Vienna had more in common than she did with Luke and Calum, but she did miss them here and there.
After a year of living with Michael, Vienna grew attracted to him and he grew more attracted to her, but none of them would admit it.
After two years of living together, Luke and Calum stopped speaking to her and she couldn't figure out why.
They left her, and now Michael.
Vienna didn't have anyone else. She put all her time into the three of them. They were her only friends. Luke, Calum, and Michael understood her more than her own damn parents ever could.
Right when Vienna was about to push the door open, Luke had grabbed her wrist, pulling her to his clothed chest. She sighed, wrapping her arms around the built man. Luke held her close, kissing the top of her head.
Vienna felt the tears and the sob in the back of her throat just like she had the night she saw that Michael had left her.
With Luke whispering in her ear that he was sorry about leaving her behind, Vienna finally let go and sobbed into his sweater.
Calum walked up behind them and wrapped his arms around the two, kissing the back of her head and whispering in her ear that he too was sorry.
Vienna was broken and all she needed was her best friends to help put her back together.
