Chapter 15: The Salesman Guardian of Geb

Geb?” Luna pronounced as if it was a lost memory of hers. Her flaming arms were still raised and ready to aim. From the guardian’s left hand, a substantial amount of sand was dripping like water in a faucet. Luna never knew someone else could produce sand from their body but then again she could produce fire with the snap of her finger.

“Yes, are your ears impaired?” the guardian mocked. His solid black pupils were staggering and attracting, it may be because of its unusual size, larger than the average pupil size; maybe he wore contacts as Luna thought.

Luna walked to her left not breaking the eye contact she had with him, he followed and slowly they were walking in circles. “Who are you?” she asked with curiosity.

“My name is not important but my purpose is,” he said, without their knowledge they’ve already formed half a circle when they started walking. Luna’s flame only grew brighter which illuminated the room more than the moonlight that peered through a small window at the ceiling. He didn’t like the guardian of Geb in any way possible; the way he talked, stare and how he managed to bring a load of sand into the building.

“You do know you’re not welcome here?” Luna remembered the story of Bobby, he was undefeated even with Martha on their side and she wondered if this man ever attacked would she ever had a chance.

“I know but I let myself in,” he said, “but enough talk. I came here for a reason.”

Luna tried to take another step but she was stuck as she noticed that there was sand that was at least ankle high that caused her foot to be glued on the floor. Luna didn’t understand how a small amount of sand could immobilize her without noticing it. She struggled to break free but the guardian stopped her, “Ah, ah, ah. It’s quick sand. You don’t want to do that.” He warned. Luna did felt that the sand was slowly sucking her into the ground which she didn’t understand how she can even surpass the concrete floor.

The guardian sat down on one of the office desk and took one of the fountain pens on the drawer and played with it. “Ready to listen?” he asked as he inspected the pen in closer look, it was bronze with silver inscriptions, “I’m not here to fight or argue. I just came here to talk.” He explained. Luna extinguished her fire but a frown remained on her face. The sand on her feet slowly disappeared being sucked by the gaps on the floor.

“I’m listening,” she said then took one of the chairs and sat a meter away facing him. He placed the fountain pen down and looked at the painting of King Henry VII, he chuckled which Luna didn’t found pleasing.

“How long have you been a guardian Luna?” he asked as he crossed his legs and leaned forward with a sinister grin.

“Eleven years,” she said proudly. Luna had no idea where he was going with it but he’s up to something that would make her rethink joining the company.

“In those eleven years have you ever seen the host of Jenevere?” he asked and immediately caused a stir to Luna’s head. Her sole purpose was to protect the guardian of spirit and yet it occurred to her that she had never saw a glimpse or a shadow of the host.
