Chapter 29: Kiara Brings Bad News

The day was boring, nothing happened, the most exciting event that probably happened was when Jessica took Luna to go shopping which was a first for Luna going out with a friend. She loved the mall, except for the concept of spending your money in the mall. But after the Company’s interference in her life, Luna was able to have an allowance which was more than her usual budget.

Luna was not great at looking for dresses and that’s where Jessica stepped in. She wasn’t exactly a fashion icon but her looks were bold and fun, which Luna liked a lot. She bought at least five set of clothes, jeans, shoes, and some heels.

“I’m really happy that you’re here,” Jessica said as they exit the mall. They decided to walk just so they could know each other better. They’ve known each other for days now but not that good. It was the perfect time for them.

Luna gave her a reassuring smile, “Yeah, me too. It’s been a long time to just relax and shop.” She said while almost tripping over a broken tile, good thing she was quick and was able to miss it. Nobody really noticed but Luna was taking more precaution.

From Luna’s pocket vibrated a phone given to her, the Company’s standard smartphone, Luna was not as technical as the other twenty-first century teens but she was pretty aware of how to use a phone.

“Hello?” It was Charlie calling, his voice was enough for Luna to blush. Jessica stood there making googly eyes on her as Luna tried to stop her from embarrassment.

“Where are you?” he asked.

“At the mall, with Jessica, why?” Luna said and they continued on walking.

“I have a surprise for you, could we meet up at the seven eleven, the one besides the company in about half an hour?”

Luna looked at her watch, it was almost time anyway. “Yeah sure,”

“That would be great, see you later.”

“Bye,” and Luna hang up. She placed the phone back to her pocket and walked, trying not to show the excitement especially with Jessica teasing her around.

“So what’s up with you and Charlie,” Jessica bumped her elbow to hers. “Some action you have there,” Jessica held Luna close to her like friend would. Luna didn’t mind, she didn’t have many friends back when she was with Cheveyo and this was totally cool to her.

“Well I don’t know, that’s it, I really don’t,” Luna said honestly as they passed over one of their companions whom Luna recognized as the man who fed the giant Venus Flytrap that morning, they said their salutations and continued on. It was cold, they’re breath was visible as Jessica only tightened her grip on Luna’s arm.

“You don’t know?”Jessica gave her a questioning grin.

Luna gave her the ‘you think I’m lying look’ which Jessica just laughed out really loud.

“That’s good.” Jessica smiled. “Confusion is good.”

Luna snorted. “How is that good?” she said and this time Luna felt like she was tapping on her inner feminism side. She liked it, they skipped like elementary girls when they walked towards the sidewalk and avoided the cracks.

“I really am, I only knew Charlie for a couple of days and I can’t shake this feeling off, is this even possible?” Luna questioned, they passed by two teenage boys who checked them out, it felt weird, but it felt like a compliment.

Jessica looked back at the two teenage boys and gave them a smile, they continued on walking side by side. “You’re new to this, this is good.” Jessica assured her.
