Chris laid on the cold ground, not moving any muscles. Josh jumped down quickly and began to panick, knealing down to his friend. "Ch-chris? " Josh started to examine Chris, looking for any wounds but right when he leaned down, Chris moved his arm and lightly threw a handful of snow into Josh's face.
Josh fell back on his rear, surprised by the cold impact.
"Boom, you just got pranked." Chris smirked as he sat up.
"Worst...prank..ever." Josh teased, brushing the snow off his face. "Are you alright?"
"Yeah, you?"
Josh nodded and stood, holding his hand out to help Chris up. The blonde took the hand and was pulled up to his feet.
"I noticed something. " Josh continued as he began to walk down the snowy path.
Chris followed next to him. "Hm?"
"How you tried to ease the tension. You managed to get me distracted and not worry about the situation. "
"Well, I don't need you freaking out about anything, I need to get you home so I know you're safe. I decided to put humor into our little...experience instead of panicking. Like it or not, but you're fragile, right now. Your physical and mental state need time to heal, thus bringing me here." Chris said, out of character.
Josh was silent for a moment. "Why did you come back?" He finally spoke.
"You're my friend. You did hurt me, a lot but...you're more hurt than I am. I promised you I wouldn't leave you behind. That still goes now, even if it kills me."
Josh allowed a tear to roll down hia cheek but didn't let Chris see. "Chris, I'm sorry that I hurt you." He spoke weakly.
Chris grabbed onto Josh's shoulder and stopped walking, though they were in the middle of the road. He turned Josh around so they could talk face to face. "Don't be. I can understand why you did it but what you did was a bit much. This just goes to show that no matter what, I'll always have your back, even if you stab me in mine. " Chris stated, wiping the tear away.
Josh clenched his fists as he looked at the ground. Chris frown and watched Josh with concern. Josh wasn't the type of person to hug people, especially his guy friends but this time, he couldn't resist. Josh found himself wrapping his arms around the blonde, holding him in a tight embrace. Once he felt the warmth of Chris's arms around him, he whispered.
"Thank you, Chris. Thank you for being my friend."
Chris smiled and closed his eyes, holding the embrace a little longer. "Don't thank me. I'm just good at keeping promises."
They would have held the hug longer if it wasnt for the fact of a car nearly hit them. Once they let go, they began walking once again. It was a long walk in silence. Once they arrived at a gas station, they both walked inside, slightly shivering from the cold.
"Excuse me, ma'am." Chris said, walking to the counter.
A rather young woman with dark brown hair turned and looked at Chris with her pale blue eyes. She saw the bruises and cuts on Chris and gasped. She then looked over at Josh and saw he was in worse condition. "Oh gosh! A-are you both alright? "
Chris glanced at Josh who glanced back at Chris. "Yeah, yeah." Chris said, looking back at the woman. "Do you have a phone we can borrow?"
She nodded and reached under the counter and pulled out her personal cellphone. "Here you go." She handed it to the blonde.
Chris took the phone and smiled. "Thank you so much." He said as he began to dial the number for a bus.
The female blushed slightly and smiled at Chris, watching him with flirty eyes. Josh glared at her slightly. He didn't like the fact of someone looking at his friend with such lust. It made Josh feel oddly...jealous.
There was no answer from the bus garage so he tried calling a cab. Luckily someone answered. Chris told the male whom answered where their location was. The male informed Chris that it would be about an hour or two before they would arrive. Chris said it was fine and thanked him. Hanging up, he handed the female back her phone.
"Thank you so much for that. I was stupid enough to leave my phone at home." Chris chuckled.
"It happens to the best of us. " The cashier said with a quiet giggle. "So, what are you doing out here, in the freezing cold?"
Josh walked up to Chris and stood next to him. "WE were just taking a walk. It's none of your business what we were doing."
Chris tensed up and glanced at Josh. It wasn't like him to be rude like that, especially to a girl. The cashier rolled her eyes and looked at Chris.
"Excuse me a moment." Chris said as he pulled Josh to the side and whispered. "Are you alright, dude?"
Josh frowned and whispered back. "She's looking at you like a piece of meat. "
"So? It's not like I'm going to act upon it."
"You better not. Ash would be pissed."
Chris tensed up and sighed. "I don't think Ashley and I are together anymore."
Josh's eyes widened. "Oh. Im so sorry. What happened? "
"I'll tell you when we get back at the house." Chris said in his normal voice volume.
