Chris stood there, his body soon became calm as he awaited for Josh to attack. He waited and waited until he felt something. What he felt wasn't pain, no blood was spilt. What he felt was arms being wrapped around him; Josh's body began to tremble.

"J-Josh? " Chris questioned.

"What...what have I become?" Josh spoke lowly, almost as if it was a struggle for him to talk.

"Sh, Josh. It's okay, I'm here."

Josh screamed out in pain as he pushed Chris away. Josh started clawing at his grey skin, trying to rid of the monstrous traits that had possessed his body. He didn't want to be this thing that hurt his friends. He didn't want to become more of a monster. As Josh began to tear off the grey skin, Chris yelled.

"Stop it! You're hurting yourself!"

Chris ran to the panicking male and grabbed his bloodied wrists. Josh looked into the blonde's eyes as tears trailed down his grey cheeks.

"I don't want to hurt you, Chris. I don't want to hurt anyone anymore. " Josh managed to say before breaking down into tears.

"You can control yourself, Josh. You're strong. You won't hurt anyone if you just believe that you're not a monster. " Chris said in a calming tone. "I know you're not. You're my best friend, not a monster."

Josh looked down at the ground as color slowly began to come back to his skin. Tears and blood dripped onto the ground from Josh's chin_Chris didn't let loose of Josh, not even for a second.

"I'm taking you home." Chris said, releasing one of Josh's wrists to wipe away the tears.

Josh shook his head. "N-no.. I'm too dangerous to be out there."

"Whatever, bro. You helped me before, it's time for me to return the favor. Besides, it looks like you're changing back, thank goodness."

"Th-that doesn't mean that I'm not one of them! I could change back at any moment and I don't want to take that risk."

Chris chuckled softly, not seeming to be worried. Josh looked up at Chris, confused.

"Then I guess you'll be stuck at my house until I know you're completely you." Chris said as he let loose of Josh_seeing that Josh's body was completely normal. Well, excluding the blood, gashes and bruising. Taking off the backpack, Chris pulled out the extra clothing, holding them out to Josh. Josh stood there, still confused.

"You're going to freeze your ass off with those rags you're wearing. Put these on and we'll go." Chris basically demanded.

Seeing how much Chris wanted to take Josh home, he agreed with no complaint. Josh took the clothes and walked to the flashlight so he could see what piece of clothing was what. Chris watched his friend to make sure nothing happened, though it was awkward to watch him undress. Josh began to strip down out of his dirty, useless clothing until he was nude.

"Dude...you even brought underwear?" Josh glanced at Chris with a slightly amused smile.

"Hey, I gotta be prepared for everything, ya know." Chris chuckled softly.

Josh's smile disappear as he began to dress himself in the warm clothing. Chris watched but didn't look directly at Josh. He only made sure that he could see his friend enough so he could react when something went wrong. Josh frowned a bit when he didn't see any shoes.

"Alright Mr. Prepared-For-Everything. You forgot shoes." Josh teased.

Chris rubbed the back of his head, looking around but only saw the old shoes Josh wore. "Shit...ah, I'm so sorry, man. Here."

Chris sat down and began to take off his own shoes.

"Hey, it's no big deal. I'll just wear the others." Josh assured but Chris didn't listen. Once his shoes were completely off his feet, he tossed them to Josh's feet.

"Put 'em on. I'll wear the others." Chris said as he stood, walking to Josh's old shoes. He knelt down and began to put them on, struggling slightly.

"Geez, someone's being demanding today. " Josh attempted to joke.

Chris glanced at Josh and frowned. "I just got you back, Josh. I'm going to make sure you're taken care of. Now co-operate or I can put a child's leash on you."

Josh tensed up and looked down at the ground. "S-sorry, I didn't mean to offend you."

Chris stood once the shoes were tied, he stood and walked to Josh, lightly patting him on the back. "You didn't. You're just hard headed, that's why we're friends. We're both exactly the same." Chris smiled softly.

"Right. Thank you, bro. Not just for saying that but for coming back for me. I didn't want to become one of those things. I was so alone. I felt like I was-"

"Josh, now isn't the time. When we get out of the mines and far away, we can talk." Chris said

Josh nodded in aggreement. Chris picked up the backpack and flashlight and began to lead the way out, Josh following next to him.
