Chapter 22

Percy spat the blood out and sneered, "Your punches are getting sloppy, are you tired?" Percy taunted, flexing his neck. Destruction's face morphs into a mask of rag and irritation. "Why you...!" The next hit knocks the breath out of Percy's already punctured lungs. Pain strikes through the centre of his torso, branching out into his whole body and he knows that a few ribs are broken from the crack that he hears. 'Great, broken ribs, just what I need' he thinks. He coughs and is not surprised when the blood that splatters on the grey, dirty ground is darker than normal. "What a waste of time." An almost non existent hope flutters in Percy's heart, but it crashes at the next words that are uttered : "But I'm having too much fun". The heavy door slams shut, leaving numerous dust bunnies in its wake. Percy's shoulders sag, dropping his rigid posture. He shifts around, trying to get in a comfortable position for the relief that was about to follow. He finally closed his eyes and leaned his head on his left arm, wincing at the pull in his right. POP. Percy gasps when the busted ribs settled back into their places. The gash on his head, which was bleeding, closes, leaving behind a dull throb in its departure. He could taste his mother's blue cookies. He yearns to see her and Paul again, wants to play with his sister. All the pain fades into dull aches. 'Hey, Percy' the voice is soft and clear and Percy smiles, even if it hurts. 'I miss you. Scratch that, we miss you. The camp is doing fine, Luke's doing a great job. Everyone's fine. Except you.' The sheer desperation in her voice stung Percy. How long had it been, since he was...taken? He had lost count after the first week. It wasn't like there was a Mickey Mouse wall clock hanging in front of him, but he had figured the days out by Destruction's one-sided conversations. 'I miss you so so much. Luke wanted to tell your mom about your...condition, but I wanted to wait. I just wish you'd give me a sign' Guilt stabbed Percy's heart.

How could he do this to his girlfriend?

How could he abandon his family?

'I love you, Percy. Please come back' Percy wanted to. He really did. He fell asleep wishing that he'd wake up at camp.

3rd Person

Cas opened her eyes and blinked back the tears that had welled up in them. What had she hoped for? For her boyfriend to immediately wake up after 3 weeks of coma? But still, she would be lying if she said that she wasn't hoping for sea green eyes to be staring up at her from the bed. His skin was pasty white, all signs of tan, gone. He had a new scar, starting from his jaw and ending at his collarbone. Cas stood up, squaring her shoulders. Percy wouldn't want her to mop around. She was almost out of the door when she heard an almost inaudible groan. Cas froze. "Cas? Is that you?" His voice sounded raspy and coarse. Cas turned slowly, afraid that her mind was playing tricks on her. Dazed sea green eyes blinked up at her. Percy was curled up into a ball, the blanket tucked around him firmly. A thin, watery smile formed on his lips, "Hey". Cas blinked, "Hey" she replied. Percy coughed and that got her moving towards the glass of water on the table. "Thanks" Percy rasped after taking a long gulp. There were so many things she wanted to ask him. So many questions, but she held back. "I'll go get Luke." Cas said, starting to get up. "No! Stay...with me." Percy begged. Cas smiled,"Of course". She grabbed another blanket from the cupboard and settled down next to Percy, wrapping the blanket around both of them. "You okay?" Percy asked, his eyes drooping. Cas smiled again. Only Percy. She placed her hand on the side of his face, stroking the gash on his temple with her thumb, "Yes, I'm okay". Percy smiled at her sleepily, "I love you, Cas". "And I love you too." She closed her eyes, allowing herself to fall asleep for the first time in two days.
