The Dragon Kind

Each year the meeting is held in a different place in Magicalian. Last year, when Asku went to the meeting, it was in Sola. This year it is in Star. It's a good place, because it's in the middle of Magicalian. It took two hours to get there, but it was worth it.

We stepped inside the castle and went to the meeting room. All seven of the kings and queens were there. That was the first time I saw them.

"Quiet!" yelled the judge. He determined where we went, for each state was represented by a different kind of magic. Sola was Earth.

"Please be seated", the judge continued. "Now can I have Aaro Plati come up please." They obviously were going in alphabetical order by first names. The judge asked a few simple questions like: What magic is your favorite? What do you like to do? Then he told you your state, magic, king or queen, and gave you a wand.

The list went on forever. There were some people, though, that went up there and made me laugh. One guy, I think his name was Eiron, was way too hyper. His mom was giving him sugar while waiting for his turn. He was also way too enthusiastic to be answering the questions. He screamed the answer so that everyone could hear how gteat he was. I'm not joking. His eyes were wide, his voice echoed in the castle, stuff like that. Then, a girl went up there. She was the opposite. She fell asleep in the chair, right when the judge was about to hand over her wand. Her father had to come up and varry both his daughyer and her wand back to their seats. I still don't think she woke up to find out what kind she is yet. But I shouldn't be saying that, because by the time he called my name, I was also half asleep. I managed to instantly wake myself up, just until the end of the meeting.

"Sola Euta."

I walked up there and said hello, then sat down and listened carefully. "Which magic would you like?" he asked.

I casually said, "Animal. Or dragon. Dragon would be best, but animal-"

He cut me off and asked me the next question. "What do you like to do?"

I thought about it for a couple seconds, then said, "talk to my horse. Magic." I immediately regretted that answer.

But he acted like it was normal and replied, "Your state is Ever, land of dragon. Your queen will be Drai."

No idea how he chooses or why, but I could barely take my wand from him because I was shaking so hard with excitement. I finally reached out to take it when the judge smiled. I must've looked like a deer in headlights, because my dad laughed at me, in that fatherly way, as I walked back to my seat. I didn't care. I had just gotten the Dragon kind. Officially the Best Day Ever.

I ran home, way ahead of my dad. That tiredness was gone, never to be found again. When I got there, I went straight into the stables.

"Magic!" I cried out. I hugged her, and her head gently rested on my back. We stayed like that until my dad walked in.

Panting, my dad walked into the stables and said, "Wow, you can run fast." I chuckled, and hugged him, too. He whispered, "Congrats," in my ear.

I smiled even bigger, and said, "Thanks. I had no idea my stupid answers would get me the Dragon kind."

"I guess they weren't stupid enough to get you Plant kind. I guess they weren't stupid at all, 'cause you got Dragon kind."

I replied with a simple, "True..."

"Come on, let's go to sleep. It's late. You've only got a week before you have to leave for Ever."

"Ok." Before we left, I secretly mouthed 'bye' to Magic, right in time, because she was turning to go towards the back of her stall. I'm glad I have Magic. She is the only true friend I have, besides my dad. But I shouldn't be worrying about that right now. I just got the Dragon kind. Things might be getting better for me, and for my family.

In the middle of the night, I woke up. No idea why. I just had a sudden burst of energy. The more I laid in bed, the more I felt the need to get up and move around. I thought, maybe going for a ride with Magic would help. So I got up, and went to the stables. She was also wide awake. I took her out of her stall and climbed onto her back. She started running, very fast. I slowed her down a little, but she was still going too quickly. I tried to slow her down more, but she got confused and thought I was trying to make her stop completely. I never really took riding lessons, so I had no idea what to do. She suddenly stopped, and I fell off her back as she fell to the ground. My right leg was bleeding, and my right arm hurt a lot. I used my left arm to push myself up. When I turned around, I saw Magic standing near me. I went to take her reigns and tugged slightly. She didn't move. I pulled on them harder, and she started to walk, but stopped after one step. I checked over her legs, and noticed one was being held up slightly.

Oh, no.
