I set my alarm an hour earlier than normal. I aslo beat my record of getting ready to go time. Before I left, I checked to make sure Tya was still sleeping. She was, so I started my journey down the maze of halls.
I had to find Mr. Cadei and explain my dragon to him. First I checked the classroom. Not there. The only other place he could be that I know of is the training room. I was inches from opening the door, when it opened for me. There was Mr. Cadei, standing in the doorway.
"Mr. Cadei! I have to tell you something about my dragon!" I was panting like a dog, like my dragon.
"I just checked on it. Is there a health issue you need me to know before it's taken away?"
"No! Don't take it away. I need to show you something."
"Okay. Lead the way." He opened the door further and let me in. The training room felt cold, and was dark with only one light on in the center of the room.
I opened the door to the room my dragon was in. It looked up, probably expecting Mr. Cadei again. When it noticed it was me, its tail wagged as hard as ever and it ran towards me. Before it ran me over, I moved out of the way. I laughed as it trotted up to me and sat down. It's eyes still were the same height as mine.
"What did you want to show me?" asked Mr. Cadei, impatient and already leaning against the wall. "I'm tired, and need to get ready for a long day. Quick!"
"Oh, yeah."
I headed to the shelf, and talked on my way.
"Y'know how I chose water? Well, I don't think it's water. I think it's all of the types."
"That can't happen, Sola." He obviously didn't believe me.
I took the blue water stone. "It's blue like water,"
Then the red fire stone. "Has a red tail like fire,"
Then the white air stone. "A wing design like air,"
Finally, the brown earth stone. "And green eyes like earth."
Mr. Cadei studied the dragon, and said a simple, "Mmhmm," when he agreed with my findings.
"Plus, watch this." I held up each stone. Like the night before, it completed each task without me having to say anything.
In between each stone, I glanced at Mr. Cadei. he was amazed.
"How?" he managed to ask, voice quivering a little.
"I don't know."
I looked hopeful at him. Can I keep it? I kept thinking, like he would be able to hear my begging.
He looked at the clock and said, "Class is starting. I have to go." There was still ten minutes until class started. I allowed him to leave, mainly beacuse i was surprised at his reaction. He left, but not without looking at my dragon again, who was still hovering in the air.

Throughout class, I began training. Not with the others, but in the room we were left in. Occasionally I heard Mr. Cadei yelling at someone, praising someone, giving orders. I didn't know what was going on outside the doors.
I would rather be with Vellath.
I named my dragon Vellath. It's an ancient name from the beginning of Sola. It means 'unique'. I thought it fit well.

The noise outside the door died down slightly. Maybe some people were leaving for lunch. I should too, and get some food for Vellath. That idea sounded good enough. Vellath still didn't want me to leave and looked sad when I told it I had to.
When I left the room, no one really noticed me. Mr. Cadei didn't seem to be around, either.
I watched the dragons run around obstacles and practice their powers. None of them acted like dogs. They acted more like lizzards, which is how they technically should act. Their tails were for balance, not wagging.
"Sola!" Tya noticed me.
She ran up to me an gave me a hug. "Where were you?"
We released each other so I could breathe. "My dragon needed me."
"What's with your dragon? Why is it so different?"
"I don't know, but I'm hungry for lunch."
She caught hold of my arm before I could go. "I'll come with you."
"Okay, if you want."
She smiled brightly, and showed her palm to a small, light brown dragon. It stopped, and layed down. "Stay, Messa," she said. Her dragon was earth like she said she wanted on our trip here.
"Messa?" I asked. "What does Messa mean?"
"It means 'happy' in Qern." She seemed so proud of herself for the name.
"Oh. Cool." It was Tya. Of course it would mean 'happy'. I laughed without trying to.
"You don't like it?"
"I do, I do. Let's go get some lunch I'm starving." I said, trying to change the subject. Naming a dragon 'happy' doesn't sound exactly right, but I didn't want to upset Tya.
"Okay. Where are we going?"
"I don't know. What do you recommend?"
"There's a coffee shop not too far from here."
"Alright. I guess that's where we'll go."
I let Tya lead the way. I looked back at Messa and found that it sat in the same spot. It never turned to watch us leave, and never looked sad. The look of no sorrow on her dragon made me sadder than when Vellath was sad to see me go. Strange, how that works.

Nothing really happened at the coffee shop. Most of the time, Tya made me answer all of her questions about Vellath. I told her all the answers. She sounded amazed, too. I still wonder why Mr. Cadei had left, pretending like nothing weird was happening.
But it wasn't weird.
It was legendary.
