Today was supposed to be the final day before the dragons take their own test. Since Vellath is 'special', at least that's what Tya calls it, it can't take the test. So instead of training I hang out with Vellath. It's becoming very playful, and has begun a love for those bread rolls.
I keep teaching it more tricks for each type, and it doesn't need the stones anymore. It can now create small flames around its body, make the ground in the room tremble (and only the room which is difficult), and can fly pretty well.
I haven't gotten a chance to take Vellath to the pool since its part of the main training room. I feel like it will adapt pretty well when it does go in the water. Vellath is a quick learner.
I am surprised, because I haven't seen Mr. Cadei ever since that day I showed him vellath. If I have, he would say he was too busy and walk away without another word.
This morning would be different. I will get answers from him. So far, the only thing I know is that they aren't taking away Vellath. I wasn't told anything about it. But Vellath is here, sitting on my lap with his bread roll, so I just assume that it's staying. That's a good thing. Vellath has become like a second Magic for me. But Magic will always be my favorite animal, and best friend.
Anyway, my plan is to ask Mr. Cadei, "How will Vellath take the test?" I already know it's not possible, but I needed something to start with.
Then, before he walks away, I will get Vellath to stand in front of him.
It's not a good plan, but it's something.
There he is now, telling Dawnah something.
"Mr. Cadei?"
"Yes?"
"How will Vellath take the test?"
"It can't. I told you that already. I need to go help Tya." Tya looked over at us. She was confused.
Mr. Cadei lied to get away. Not really a surprise, but still confusing.
"I'm sorry, but I need answers."
"Later." He turned around and headed towards Tya, but Vellath floated down and landed directly in front of him. I could see small flames on its back.
Good, Vellath. Look intimidating!
This thought made me laugh. Vellath glanced at me over Mr. Cadei's shoulders as if to say, "Shut up."
Mr. Cadei turned back around and looked at me. "Fine."

"First, I need to know why you keep avoiding Vellath."
"Beacuse I don't know enough about the prophecy."
"The what?"
He ignored my question and asked his own.
"Did anything weird happen when you walked up to the book?" He looked more curious than anything. He leaned forward on the chair, elbows on the old wooden desk, and with his glasses on. He looked way different with his glasses on. It fit, because we sat in his office. He was behind the desk, and I sat in a wooden chair.
"Well, the symbol circled itself."
"Great, another thing to add. I guess that's all I need to know for now."
"That's not all I need to know. Why is it my dragon that's different?"
"I'm sorry, Sola. That is a question I cannot answer."
"Just tell me everything you know about what's going on."
"Okay, let's see-" He sat back in his chair and tapped a pencil, that he randomly picked up, on the desk.
"A long time ago," he spoke without looking at me, "there was a prophecy. It may sound like something out of a fairytale, but this was actually true. Written in a different language, I translated it to reveal a story, several pages long. Basically, it stated that a special dragon will be the ultimate savior in Evelan. It will have all the power to defeat Devola."
"Who's Devola?"
"The mighty dragon. It was strong, and no one could kill it. It also wasn't a type. Anyway, the savior dragon would kill it and Evelan would be safe from all harm."
He stopped talking, so I asked, "Is Vellath the savior? Will Vellath have to kill Devola"
"No," he said, finally looking up at me. "Vellath will be able to stay safe here in Evelan."
"But what about Devola? It needs to be killed so we can be safe."
"We are already safe. Devola was killed centuries ago. No one wrote it down, and only a few people knew about Devola. The leaders didn't want anyone to think they were in danger."
I had to sit and think for a while. All of this was too confusing.
Too many questions.
Too many questions that can't be answered.
I started thinking out loud. "Then why was Vellath created? Evelan doesn't need a savior anymore. And why is Vellath my dragon? It could have been created, and sent to do its work. And how did the symbol circle itself, like I was supposed to have Vellath?"
"There is nothing written about another savior," he said it while thinking. "That I've heard of," he added.
We sat there to think for a while. I asked more questions, like 'Are you sure there was no other prophecy?' and 'What was the other savior like?' The other savior didn't have a picture drawn, or a description. He did say that the savior was air, but with extremely well developed talent involving its power.
"Thanks" I said, getting up to leave. I can leave with a better idea about Vellath, but with not enough answers overall. Mr. Cadei still tapped his pencil again, probably thinking about possibilities.

My thoughts filled my mind. They seemed so loud, like someone passing by would hear them.
I didn't tell Tya about anything Mr. Cadei told me. I didn't understand it enough, and neither did he. But that night, more thoughts hit me. I thought about every possibility. In retrospect, I came up with one that could make sense.
I'll have to write the prophecy myself, and make history that will change Evelan and all of the other states forever.
Vellath and I would be the saviors.
But the savior of what?
Too many questions that can't be answered.
