Avery wakes up - her pulse now over high instead of low. She trembles from head to toe despite the sweat dripping from her forehead. She shakes her head, trying not to remember. Trying to forget the scenes that happened before. It seemed like moments ago that Gordon had stood with murder in his eyes. He had never gone that far - always apologised for any harms he had brought to her. This time though, she knew it. Knew she was going to die; yet miraculously ... she was here. Alive. Not exactly well, but alive. Bought here by a girl and boy. She didn't know who they were, the doctors were fetching them now. The girl could've been anyone of her friends. Kay, Diana, Zoe. But the boy? she wasn't so sure. At first she thought of the one boy who she respected and felt safe with, but then changed her mind as she remembered his betrayal.

The doctor entered and smiled at her, quickly bustling around and fussing over her pulse and temperature and things as such. Soon he left and two people entered the room. One she had guessed, Diana - but the other made the beep on the heart rate monitor quicken even more, if that was possible. Her breathing was heavy, yet shallow as she took in his face. The same face that had given her freedom for so long and then taken it away altogether.

"Avery? Oh my god! You're okay! I thou-" Diana sat beside her shaking her head trying to control he tears rolling down her cheeks. Avery sits up and pulls Diana into a hug to calm her down. She was family after all. Carl followed soon after sitting in silence on the other side of the bed as Diana explained what happened. Soon, Diana goes down to get a coffee after staying awake for so long leaving Carl and Avery alone.

"You okay?" He says. She nods, her lips in a straight line.

"I'm sorr-" He begins.

"Don't. It's not you."

"This Gordon guy - I'll get him, slaughter him and -"

"Carl. Stop. Don't."

"Avery - I messed up your life I -"

"Carl! Just shut up okay! I told you it's okay. I forgive you if that's what you want to hear. you did nothing wrong - In fact, you made my life better now please stop apologizing. The only thing you can make up for isn't for me. it's for the gang okay? Our family. You go get them back. We rebel against the Dread's. Hit 'em so hard they either leave us be or lose their place. I don't believe for a second that you joined them at your own will." Avery coughed, clutching her stomach hard. Carl's arm shot out to help her but it was already gone. She laughed painfully at him but shook her head.

"At least, that's what I've been telling myself. That you're gone undercover or something. Please. for them." She coughed again, more forcefully but this time, she had determination in her eyes. Carl stared into them, the dark green looking more determined than he had ever seen them. And for her, he had to do it. Diana walked in smiling, she had cleaned up and held 3 coffee's in her hand. The two smiled up at her, but not a word was said.
