23 - Hello, Calum.

{Calum's point of view}

"Speak to me." I simply said on the phone, no effort in my voice. I had just been interrupted while speniding time with Bella and it mad me a little angry inside.

" Hey Cal, it's Ashton. He is being rushed to the hospital," Michael's voice shaky and full of doubt. My breathing became heavy as my heart race sped up into a uneven beat. "Luke is on his way." I hung up as I gripped onto my phone tightly. Chewing the side of my lip, I glanced at the dumbfounded girl stood in front of me.

"I need to go."

"Yeah, I guess it's getting pretty late." Arabella shrugged, disappoint ment blunted in her deep eyes. "See you around, Calum." The once elated and jokingly girl flew away in the most of air, as it was replaced with loneliness with a hint of something else. I'm not sure though.

"See you at school, babe." I grinned, smacking her bum and running of to lighten the mood. However, in reality one of my best friends is lying in hospital for an unknown reason.

Walking through the automatic glass doors, a clinical and hygienic smell entered my nose, replacing the smell of sweat. My body stuck to the cotton jumper as the rain soaked through. I glanced around, looking for rainbow looking hair and a tall quiff. Nothing.

"Can I help you?" Asked the woman at the desk, I marched over to the wooden oval desk in the centre of the clean, mint green and white room.

"Yes, my friend, Ashton Irwin was admitted like twenty minutes ago." Panic boiling up in my body, my palms growing moist. I pushed my hair back as rain dripped down my olive skin tone.

" Yes, please can you take a seat over there and a doctor should be with you shortly." I nodded, giving her a little grin to say a little thank you.

Chewing on my lip and picking the skin off my fingers, around my nails. My back started prickling with ache - mainly from being in the same position - my mind soon drifted off the matter as my phone vibrated in my back pocket. Sliding it out of the jeans pocket, I slid the screen across and read the text message.

Hey, I'm just checking you are ok? You seemed nauseous. Arabella.

Should I tell her the truth? Should I lie and say my parents wanted to speak to me? Should I call her and pretend it is nothing and I don't want anything to do with her? I'm in too deep, I can't go back now, I mean she gives me a thrilling: an adrenaline rush that I have never felt. Arabella sparked something in me, excitment? I am errupted from my thoughts from a skidding sound - the sound of wet shoes running on illaminate flooring.
Familiar murmed voices came from the desk across from the room. Glancing over, I am greeted with vibrant blue hair and a large blonde quiff. I cleared my throught to recieve their attention.

"I thought you guys would already be here," My voice shockingly aggressive yet, subtle. I chewed on my lip in attempt to keep in my anger. "What the fuck happened?" I spoke quietly, as they sat on the metal chairs. They had scratches, with silver seeping through the paint.

"He got in a fight, defending you believe it or not." Michael informed me, I shook my head and stood up, my back feeling loose; who would want to try and step up to me, I'm annoyed at myself. I should have been there instead of hanging around with Arabella. It's my fault.

"Who did he have a fight with?" I asked the two frightful boys in front of me. Luke and Michael stood up in shock, I turned around to see a doctor with pastel coloured clothing on.

"Are you friends of Ashton Irwin?" He asked us, a desspressing tone added to his voice. I nodded and put my hands in my pockets. "Ashton has suffered a few injuries and he is perfectly stable. However, we want to keep him in the hospital for a couple of days." I read his name tag and jumped in before Michael and Luke.

"Doctor Porter, what do you mean 'a couple of days'?" The boys glanced at me and worked their way closer to me.

"It's just for observation -" Before he could finish, Luke glanced over the Doctor's shoulder to read the sheet he had attached to a clipboard.

"Can we see him?" Luke politely asked the man in the pastel sheets. He nodded, but before we could rush off to his room, I sighed and pulled Luke closer to me.

"Room?" Raising my eyebrows, waiting for an answer off the man. I understand I am being rude but, I couldn't care less at this moment of time.

"32, only one person at a time. Someone is already in there." The boys looked at me and nodded, giving me a look, allowing me to go first. I placed my hand on Luke's shoulder and whispered a thank you. Running off and up the stairs to Ashton's room, I burst the door open as I saw the pale body rest on the medical bed. A figure hovered over Ashton.

"Hi Calum."
