The next morning, they woke up to see his Grandfather in the hospital. While they were waiting in his room Little Crow got a phone call.
"Hello," said Little Crow.
"Hey Little Crow we are at the youth center, going over blueprints do you want to come," said Ivy.
"I can't today, my Grandfather is in the hospital," said Little Crow.
"Oh my gosh, is he going to be alright, what happened?" asked Ivy.
"Yes he is fine, he fell at the house and broke his hip," said Little Crow.
"My goodness, well we will understand if you don't join us, we will see you at school," said Ivy.
"Yes you will see me at school thank you, Ivy," said Little Crow.
"You are welcome," said Ivy hanging the phone up.
"Who was that?" asked White Dove.
"It was Ivy," said Little Crow.
"Oh," said White Dove.
They sat down in the room; Kicking Bird was pushing his Grandfather in the wheelchair down the hallway towards his room.
"I hear him talking," smiled White Dove.
"Me too," said Rocky Crow.
"Hey Grandpa," said Rocky Crow.
"Hey guys," said Grandfather.
"We just got back from the cafeteria, they had breakfast," said Grandfather.
"I bet, when will they expect you to go home?" asked Little Crow.
"They said another day or two," said Kicking Bird.
"Good we miss you already," said Rocky Crow.
"I'll be back to my old self again, no worries son," said Grandfather.
"Good," said White Dove.
So they stayed a while and visited.
"I think I'll stay here again if that is alright with you guys?" asked Kicking Bird.
"Yes it is all right with us," smiled White Dove.
"Come on Little Crow," said Rocky Crow.
So they left the hospital and went home.
"Do you think he will be okay?" asked Little Crow.
"Yes, he will be fine, he'll be home soon, he may need help from both of you boys," said White Dove.
"Yeah, after school we both will make sure he has stuff he needs and help around the house," said Little Crow.
"Yes, you both are such good kids anyway," said White Dove.
"Thank you, we try," laughed Little Crow.
"Well I'm going to bed, I have school tomorrow," said Little Crow.
"Good night son," said Rocky Crow.
So Little Crow went to bed. The next morning Little Crow woke up to get ready for school. He grabbed a bite to eat and rushed out the door.
"Hey Little Crow how's your grandfather doing, Ivy, told us what happened?" asked White Eagle.
"He is doing good, he gets to come home sometime today," said Little Crow.
Then the bus arrived, Ivy started running once she saw the bus and jumped on.
"That is good I am glad he gets to come home," said White Eagle.
"Your Grandfather gets to come home today?" asked Ivy.
"Yes," said Little Crow.
"That is great, I'm glad," said Ivy.
"You will probably be pretty busy making sure he has everything he needs," said White Eagle.
"Yeah I won't be able to help out with the projects," said Little Crow.
"That is all right, you have more important things to do, besides we have lots of help," smiled Ivy.
"Thank you," said Little Crow.
The bus arrived at the school and dropped all the kids off. They walked inside and went to class. As they were in class the teacher was talking to the kids about the projects they had done and what a great job they had done. A lot of hard work.
The reservation was finally looking like a thriving town. They had new houses with running water, hot and cold, ac units and heat, they tore the old houses down for the new ones, they cleaned up the reservation all the trash was gone and put into dumpsters. They had a mini shopping mall, with boutiques, game rooms, a gym, they built a library, they put in three restaurants with authentic Native American foods, and a museum.
The reservation started to look like an actual town. It will give everybody that was a job, also to keep themselves out of trouble. All this happened because a group of kids stepped out and took action.
