The years have come and gone and the rez is doing great, there are still a few who still live on the streets and drink and do drugs and join gangs, but other than that the rez is going well. Now Little Crow and his friends are out of school and each of them has a job or a career.
Ivy works at the library with a few other classmates, White Eagle works at the museum since he comes from a bloodline of traditional along with a few other classmates as well. Little Crow is a police officer and he loves it. Kicking Bird works at the hospital as a doctor, he left the rez to go to college once his grandfather was feeling better from the fall he took long ago when they were younger.
They all had their place now on the reservation. Ivy and White Eagle moved in together and Little Crow found a wife, she is a half-breed, her name is Mary Green and she's a schoolteacher at the same school Little Crow and his friends went. It was 4:00 am Indian time, Little Crow got up to get ready for work, Mary Green was already up, she got up at 3:00 am and made coffee and sat down on the couch and started praying and reading her bible.
Mary is a Christian, she is Apostolic, long black ankle-length hair, she was reading her bible. Little Crow was getting dressed into his uniform, he was praying as he was getting ready for work. There was a Navajo Apostolic preacher, and his wife and kids started a church on the reservation, Mary Green and Little Crow attend that church. Around 4:00 am Mary Green put her bible down and started to make breakfast. So he came down into the kitchen and sat down at the table, when he sat down, there was a cub of coffee and a newspaper already on the table for him to read.
"Smells good," said Little Crow reading the newspaper and sipping on his coffee.
"Thank you," said Mary.
She finished cooking and made two plates, she brought his plate to the table and brought hers to the table as well, she sat down, and grabbed hands, and started to pray over the food.
"Thank you, Jesus, for this beautiful morning, and bless this food and bless the hands that prepared to always do good, be with my wife today as she gets ready for work and keep her safe, and may she be an example, I pray for myself Lord as well as I get ready for work, keep me safe and help me to be an example at my job, and let our light shine bright and forgive us of our sins and our prideful minds as Indigenous people in Jesus name Amen."
They started eating breakfast. Then it was around 4:30 am and it was time for Little Crow to go to work. So they both got up from the table and walked towards the door, they held hands again.
"Lord Jesus, protect my husband as he is on his way to work, let him be an example, put your shield around him as he works out in the fields, Lord only you know what he sees and endures, make him strong, make his mind stronger, and may he always turn to you when in need, in Jesus name Amen," said Mary Green.
"Amen, thank you, darling," said Little Crow.
"You are welcome," said Mary Green.
He kissed her on the forehead and got in his police car and drove to work. She closed the door and went back to the kitchen and started cleaning up and started the day getting ready for work.
Little Crow arrived at work with donuts and put them in the kitchen and walked back to his desk to finish some more paperwork.
"Hey who brought the donuts?" asked Pete with his mouth full.
"It was me, Pete," said Little Crow.
"Well thank you, they melt in your mouth," said Pete.
Little Crow just smiled and went back to paperwork. On the rez across the street, there was a ruckus happening in a neighborhood with shouting and screaming. So they went and called the police.
"Hey there is a call on Maple Street and Saux, a domestic violence it sounds like," said the chief officer of that unit.
Little Crow and his partner got up and rushed out over to Maple Street. When they arrived and pulled up they saw through the window that a guy was bashing his wife's head up against the window, they
quickly got out of the car and rushed in. Little Crow quickly jumped on the man taking him to the ground and handcuffed him.
"What's the matter with you," yelled Little Crow.
Once he pulled him up, he realized it was Matthew.
"She's messing around on me man," said Matt.
Little Crow dispatched an ambulance for the woman. Little Crow was very disappointed and angry.
"Let's go," said Little Crow putting him in the patrol car, his partner stood out and Little Crow walked back towards the ambulance. His partner said,
"He beat her every time she would leave the house, so he would lock her up in the house to keep her from going outside and sitting on the porch," said the deputy.
"Wow that is crazy," said Little Crow.
They both got in the car and Matt was so drunk he started yelling and kicking the rails in the car.
"Hey, you are not Native, cause you don't have long hair like me," said Matt.
"I am a Christian now Matthew, I found the Lord," said Little Crow.
"Don't mind him he is drunk," said Little Crow's partner.
"I know," saddened Little Crow.
